This might be a really dumb question, but here it is anyway… I bought a larger external drive (Windows) and I’m copying all my music files over to it (partitioned into two because of the nature of my collection). Then I am going to remove the old drive from the computer.
I now have two options: 1. Change the letter of the drive partitions in Windows to match ‘file location’ in Audirvana or 2. Change the file location Audirvana, where it looks for files, to match the letters I just gave to the new partitions on the new drive. Does it make any difference?
With #1, I suppose it’s possible Audirvāna will think it’s looking at the same old drive, which should go quicker than a brand new scan. So try #1, and if Audirvāna isn’t “fooled,” then you just wind up with situation #2 and no harm done.
Jud: Thanks for the reply. Idea #1 sorta worked, but I ended up with some duplicates. In the end, I removed the AudirvanaDatabase.sqlite file and re-synced, so now it’s working. I don’t really use playlists, so I’m not affected by certain metadata losses. Anything I do use, such as ‘Rating’, seems to be in the file itself, so not lost when the database is erased.
