Amazon Music HD integration

I remember when Qobuz beta came out and their own player was buggy, often stuttering or locking up. That is when I started using Audirvana to stream Qobuz. Audirvana has always been rock solid with Qobuz. They have since fixed their own player but I still prefer Audirvana:)

Amazon Music HD only works in Windows shared mode and regardless of the native sample rate and bit depth playback defaults to what user has set in Windows sounds. Up or downsampling occurs on playback, you can monitor this if your extermal DAC shows what sample rate it is being sent.

Apparently the only way you can now achieve bit perfect playback and automatic sample rate switching is to use a streamer from one of Amazon’s partners using BluOS. I think their business model is to encourage users to buy new hardware.

Short term I don’t think Amazon has any plans to fix the app so it can play in Exclusive mode but integration with Audirvana would really be welcome.

Deux sociétés européennes vont se faire trucider… et tout le monde applaudit.

Also for me, would be highly appreciated to integrate Amazon HD into Audirvana.

+1 from me too. I’m very happy with TIDAL but its library still lacks some music that I love. Of course it remains to be seen whether Amazon will fill that gap.

I’m hooked to Audirvana though. Without support in Audirvana, I’ll be hard pressed to consider another streaming service.

Hi, I do highly support and look forward towards the Integration of Amazon Music HD streaming into Audirvana. I am pretty sure others will follow and I will continue to promote Audirvana.
Thank you for further Development of Audirvana.
Kind Regards

Seems Amazon just closed it’s service for all third party apps :smiling_imp:

If true, that’s not very wise move. People that are interested in HD Res music prefer to consume the content using specialised software.

Relatively true, sorry :innocent:
Quote from changelog in bubble-upnp: removed Amazon Cloud Drive support as Amazon has entirely stopped providing access to it to third party apps

So it’s cloud drive only. Let’s wait for things to come

I downloaded the 30days-trial version on my macbook pro, macos mojave.
Now my question is, are there plans to integrate Amazon HD music into Audirvana?

Thanx

+1 for this integration if Amazon is willing to play ball. It would be fantastic to have a Tidal alternative.

I had Tidal and Amazon. Amazon does have an impressive catalog but I dropped both of them for qobuz. Unfortunately my McIntosh integrated will not have MQA capabilities due to McIntosh not buying a license. I can only say that having switched from those two to Qobuz and using Audirvana as my remote app to my MacBook saved the day. The catalog of HiRes seems greater and I’m enjoying it. This will at least give me time to evaluate and buy a streamer/DAC in the future. Great stuff out there.

Now that Amazon have introduced Ultra HD on top of HD it would be great if we could add this to the Audirvana portfolio. I really want to utilise Audirvana for my Amazon Ultra HD subscription.

The only thing holding me back from getting Audirvana is Amazon Music HD integration. For the longest time, I used Tidal and Spotify both because there were things missing from each library.

But what I want is one master program to make playlists that integrate my ripped Apple Lossless music, HD Tracks for higher rez stuff, AND Amazon Music HD.

Soon? I’ll be there day one, as long as it works.

So far Amazon has only opened its closed API to hardware vendors whose physical products it can sell. I’ve given up waiting and am happily using Qobuz, which has all the music I need.

I found out that Amazon Music HD can have mis-labelled tags. It can labelled in the UltraHD category but in fact it is not. That’s what Amazon Tech Support told me after over 3 months and dozens of emails later… as I questioned why Norah Jones’ “Come Away with Me” album was showing 192/24 playback at several times and when I “downloaded” it (not purchased it), it now only plays at 44.1 / 16 consistent, across ALL my devices. I even removed the album from MY MUSIC and it continues to play at 44.1/16 only.

All this is after dealing with their incompetent tech support personnel for about 3 months !!! And they can not tell me when the tags can be corrected.

Sounds like a shady business practice. So I did not subscribe to the Amazon HD tier as you may NOT be getting what is advertised.

Maybe only the purchased files are full res. That’s similar to Qobuz.
