So… It has been three days using the 4.0.2. on Android 12 smartphone.
First day, crashing at first. After some dozen of crashes i used Team viewer for a while then it started working fine for the rest of the day.
Second day, worked for an hour, then crashed after selecting next album to play. Used Team viewer for a while again then it started to work again for the rest of the day.
Third day, no problems at all from morning to evening.
I have high hopes for the new updated remote app. I will keep on using it for the next week (i am busy this weekend) and will report further with my experience…

Just to add some context in case it helps developers, the app doesn’t give any problems most of the time. When it does the “not responding” thing, I can be doing anything, or even nothing. I’ve had it happen many times while it is running in the background and I am using a different app. Once it starts crashing, it seems to keep doing it. I personally noticed that if I restart my phone then the remote seems to behave for a good amount of time. So I am able to use it most of the time, just not all of the time.
Just checking to see if any progress is being made with this issue. I have a slight preference for sound quality with Audirvana, but I have had to bring out my copy of J River since it has never given me any problems.
