Asustor AS5402T NAS with Audirvana

Does anyone know if Audirvana will run on an Asustor? It uses a Quad-Core Intel Celeron N5105 with 16GB of memory and 4TB of NVMe storage (RAID 1). I want to try Audirvana but even before I do the trial, I want to make sure it will run. I know Asustor ADM is Linux based so I think it’s compatible with all my specs but Audirvana just lists QNAP & Synology NAS’s as compatible, even though the Asustor meets all the requirments. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You cannot use the qnap or synology packages, so you must be able to install one of the regular Linux packages directly on the operating system. I don’t know how that NAS works, what Linux version it runs etc, but you know how software is installed on that machine.

thank you for the response. It seems Audirvana on NAS is very limited at this point even on the QNAP & Synology. There are only 2-3 models (all 4 bays) for each. There are even fewer that run on an AMD or ARM processors. My Synology is 2 core Celeron and the Ausustor is a quad core Intel. It seems I can’t use Audirvana at this point.

You can use Audirvana on the Synology. AMD means that is can be used on a x86 architecture, like Intel Celeron. Not that it is limited to the brand AMD.

Thank you for the response, however I want to retire the Synology and move exclusively to the Asustor, would it work on that? If so which Linux download should I choose? any help is always appreciated.

Sorry, I don’t know that NAS. As I said before, if you are able to install directly on Linux that is running on the NAS and you know your way around the command line and Linux, you might give it a shot. If not, then Audirvana Core is probably not the right version of Audirvana for you.

But you can always try the Synology version for the trial period, just to evaluate the software.

Not really, I don’t have a list about it but if your Synology/QNAP NAS is using an Intel or ARM processor with 2GB of Ram, it can run Audirvāna.

Antoine thanks for the reply. I want to use the Asustor going forward. The Asustor uses a Quad-Core Intel Celeron N5105 with 16GB of memory and 4TB of NVMe storage (RAID 1). So based on what you’ve just said, Asustor should run Audirvana with ease? If so which Linux version of Audirvana should I use.?

Have you installed this?

Yes I have. I have a choice of Debian 8 server & desktop or Debian 10 server & desktop. I believe Asustor will use Debian 8 with Linux Center. I have no experience with Linux but I’m an intermediate computer user so if you could guide me through the next steps to get Audirvana up and running, it would be greatly appreciated.

Install Audirvāna on Linux

You first need to create an account to use Audirvāna, which gives you access to the installation file you can download on your account

To install the package, you must follow the procedure based on your Linux distribution:

Once installed, the executable will be in /opt/audirvana/studio or /opt/audirvana/origin, where you can start Audirvāna.

To start automatically Audirvāna Studio/Audirvāna Origin as a service at boot, a shell script setAsService.sh can be found in the same folder.

Preferences file are in ~/.config/audirvana

Audirvāna database and log files are in ~/.local/share/audirvana
