Audio Unit / Sonarworks SoundID not usable

Once SoundID (5.2.3.2 or the newest 5.3.) is configured as Audio Unit, Audirvana Origin cannot be used anymore. The macOS spinball appears and the CPU load increases. This is not the case with Audirvana 3.5.50.

Something happened in the latest SoundID Ref (Sonarworks) AU plugin (5.3.0) that broke it within Studio (v1.13.0). It no longer can render though it and the audio bus refuses to start.

I’ve tried this version of the AU plugin with other hosts like Audacity on the Mac and there it works fine.

Hello @sbmn and @phelme,

Can you please enable this option and try again?

When enabling this option Audirvana plays my files. Going back Audirvana crashes.

What do you mean by that?

Sorry. I mean switching back to the standard API.
Regards

Sonarworks seems to be working for me now. They released an update.

Now my problem is Audirvana Studio can’t remember I’ve turned off individual Audio Units and keeps displaying them no matter what I do. This has happened in the past. :frowning:

You mean by that deselecting it?

You mean by that deselecting it?

Correct. As far I know the only way to do it is by setting “No Effect”

You can do this that way or completely disable audio unit with the button on the same page of the settings. Either way you still have the audio unit displayed when you play?

when I disable the entire effects processor, no AU plugin is displayed, as expected.

but this is a continuing bug that there appears to be no way to reliably remove individual effects from the 4 slots without tossing the entire SQLite database and recreating everything.

removing effects plugins works OK on Windows, this is a Mac problem as far as I can tell.

Which version of MacOS do you have?

v12.4

Hello @phelme,

I’m really sorry for the late reply, can you please try to reproduce your issue with the latest version of Audirvāna Studio and the latest version of SoundID?

installed the latest. there is still one plugin (from Voxengo) in the 2nd slot that just won’t go away. I can install another type in the same place, but once that is removed the Voxengo just comes back. Same with setting it to “No Effect”

Are you sure there is not one copy in the main Library or one in the User Library?

If you can’t see your User Library by default:

Apple hide the Home Folder in User Library at some time depending on OS System…
When you have clicked your Home Folder, and cannot see the Library Folder in there,
just do a ‘‘cmd J’’ to show the folder settings preferences and see at the bottom…
click Show Library Folder and then you’ll have access to the rest forever.

I have the same problem: when I select SoundID and then configure, Audirvana origin is crashing and sending a report to Apple. All the 0ptions in the audio units screen are set to ‘on’.

Is this a Audirvana problem or SoundID problem, and how can we solve it?

gr. Jos.

Hello @Jos,

Can you please send us the content of the crash report at [email protected]? Are you using the latest version of their plugin?
