Audirvana and pre box s2 digital issue

Hello, this is my first post here. I’ll just dive in to share an annoying problem I have with Audirvana and my dac. I’d appreciate any suggestions to solve this. Thanks in advance.

The issue:
When I restart Audirvana after I have closed it for the night (or so) there is no sound. On my remote (and the macbook) everything seems ok. Song is selected and is playing. The only thing is that there is no sound. I have to completely restart the dac to get my sound back. That means take It off the power and reinsert the usb. That doesn’t seem the right thing to do as a daily routine.

I hope it is just a setting I overlooked and there is a simple solution for it.

Audirvana is running on a mid 2012 macbook pro on Mojave. The mbp is dedicated to music and not used for anything else. It’s always on. I use an Ipad as a remote. The dac is a Pro-Ject pre box s2 digital that is connected to the macbook by usb. My library is on a nas, I subscribed to Tidal. All connections are wired except the ipad of course.

Over the last 9 months I have been using Roon exclusively and never had this problem. One of the reasons to switch to Roon was exactly this annoying behaviour. Before spending a lot of money on renewal of my Roon subscription I rather get Audirvana working. It just seem to sound better. Any help is welcome and much appreciated.

Have you tried with a different USB port? Do you upsample?

At the moment I’m not upsampling. Sometimes I like to try to see if improves the sound.
I think once I accidently changed the usb port. Didn’t make any difference.

Try to make pre-load cache smaller, for example 2048MB.

Out of curiousity, how would decreasing the buffer help?

…and ofcourse, you must’ve given up on Audirvana huh?
