Audirvana from macbook with UPnp to Lumin T3 streamer/DAC

Why does music sound different when
I play from Audirvana UPnP to Lumin T3 as compared directly though Lumin app ?

Thanks

Not much information to go onā€¦ Is the source of the music file(s) you are comparing the same? Local from disk or ssd, streamed from a provider like Qobuz or Tidal? Is there any upscaling done via Audirvana or the Lumin? When you say ā€œas compared directly thru the Lumin appā€, what is the network path of each? Are you using any volume management in either the Audirvana or Lumin app? And how do you insure they are of the same volume?

It might also be helpful if you could describe what the difference in sound isā€¦

Welcomeā€¦
Please paste your debug information here so folks can help the best possibleā€¦ It is found here: Settingsā€“> My Accountā€“> Helpā€“> Debug info

As @Ddude003 alludes, there are many possible elements and influences to consider in such an assertion regarding subjective sound-qualityā€¦

Different better or different worse? :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks for the comments. I only use Qobuz, no change in settings and no up scaling. it sounds worse playing through Audirvāna as compared to LUMIN app directly.
If Audirvāna is just telling LUMIN what to play then it should not make any difference. I just love Audirvāna interface as compared t to LUMIN native app.
I have McIntosh 12000 350w integrated amplifier , Bower and Wilkins 802D4 speakers and LUMIN T3 as streamer / DAC

Thank you for the information @parkashmd, so farā€¦ BTY nice kitā€¦ I see that your McIntosh 12000 has a remote control which includes volume control/managementā€¦ Your Lumin/Lumin app has volume control/management and Audirvana has volume control/managementā€¦

Volume levels should be matched to within 0.1 dB, or as close to that as possibleā€¦ Very small level differences often donā€™t sound louder or softer, but just slightly differentā€¦ Larger volume differences have a substantial affect on perceived response due to the Fletcher-Munson effect, where both low and high frequencies become more prominent at louder volumesā€¦

I would suggest that you disable volume control/management in both Audirvana and Lumin/Lumin app and do all the volume control with your McIntosh remoteā€¦ This way there is consistent gain staging in whatever app you use to stream fromā€¦

And please include your debug info as @Agoldnear suggestsā€¦
