Audirvana sounds much better in Linux!

I am a new contributor to this forum, in which I posted about my experiences of using Audirvana in Linux.

I am extremely disappointed with the subsequent responses which not only departed from the original subject, but descended into rudeness and a lack of civility. I have flagged this thread for mod attention.

This is my first experience of this forum, and it will also probably be my last.

Yes, quite sorry you’ve run into some less than helpful responses. There are helpful folks here. You can also place people on your ignore list so you don’t see responses from them unless you absolutely want to. (Click on your profile pic, then the icon that looks like a person at the bottom of the vertical row that appears, and finally click on Users among the selections at the top of the page.) Hope you won’t hesitate to ask for assistance if needed or just chat away if you like due to this one experience.

Oh BTW, there’s a nice long thread on the subject of listening impressions in various OSs/distros here, if you’re curious: Subjective Impressions of Sound Quality - Audirvana Studio on Linux

Please follow the advice by @Jud . There are plenty of civilized people around here. But I agree that the language used and the shown manners sometimes are certainly worthy for moderation.

Just to manage expectations on that one: @Antoine is probably enjoying the weekend off right now and presumably will follow up on your request next Monday.

On the web interface for SonicOrbiter, if the sonicTransporter doesn’t show up and the opticalRendu is showing up, you’ll read on the screen that nothing will happen unless a computer running SonicOrbiter is found.

Now the optical module fits the definition of a media interface better than the opticalRendu which maybe used as such but is more than just that.

The opticalRendu Deluxe is an Ethernet to USB, UPnP/DNLA renderer/endpoint that produces a USB digital-audio protocol packet-stream to the DAC.

Easiest to install will be any of those you named, because they are either Debian itself or Debian-based distros. Stability should be fine on all of them as well, at least I have never had a problem.
