Best music streamer 100% compatible with Audirvana

Dear Community
What is the best under $700 music streamer that is 100% compatible with Audirvana?

I was considering the Bluesound Node 2i but I wonder if the lack of upnp capacity is a major drawback.

I stream all my music from Tidal. I hardly have or plan to have HD files.

Thank you so much

You can usually find used Sonore rendus at or below your price point. They work perfectly with Audirvana. You still will need a USB DAC or USB input on a preamp or integrated amplifier.

Mike
I have an old DAC/Amp Peachtree Audio Nova with USB and optical inputs.
So if Inunderstand correctly, the Sonore is only a streamer and no DAC?
Thank you for taking the time to reply.

Yes. Only a streamer. Check out https://www.sonore.us/index.html.

microRendu is discontinued, but specs are similar to current ultraRendu.

Let me know if you have other questions.

You could consider SOtM sms-200 Neo, I’m using it with Audirvana

If your DAC has SPDIF input, you may want to check out the Lindemann USB bridge.

It can also work as a streamer without the computer. You can connect to streaming services directly on the device and it’s controlled through the app.

Thanks @bitracer …do you know of any options easier to find in northamerica?
I live in Mexico and I could buy the unit in the United States, but I see that Lindemann doesn’t have a US distributor.

Try Small Green Computer:

Thanks Stefano. I will look into this.

In your experience, am I going to lose sound quality dramatically if I just go for the combo streamer/DAC (like my original Bluesound node 2i idea?) and maybe forget about using Audirvana?----(No offense to the Audirvana team!).

I really want to keep things simple. Amplifier + Streamer/DAC sounds very nice, although I understand that I may not be getting a best in class DAC

So much I need to learn. I though the whole digital music thing was simple!
Thanks for this. I will look into it.

Peachtree DAC is about on par with the Node 2i. Don’t think you’ll find much improvement there.

I don’t own Bluesound Node 2i then I cannot say anything anyway I’ve heard good things about it.
But I can say that the Audirvana-SOtM sms-200-dac combo is a step forward compared to Audirvana-usb dac. Take care to analyze Bluesound app, it is important that you like it.

I´m thinking that probably it will make sense to try Audirvana+SOtM device but continue to use my peachtree DAC -at least as a start.

What interface is used with the SOtM streamer? would it be Audirvana remote app?

Thanks

You would be using USB and yes, you can control Audirvana using the remote app.

Alex,
Please tell me what you think of this…the way I do things now is, I stream Tidal/Audirvana using a 2010 Macbook Pro, and then send it to the peachtree DAC/amp via USB.

By doing this I can only get max a 44Khz bitrate even when I play high resolution files from my hard drive library or Tidal’s master files.

According to specs, the peachtree DAC should be able to deal with 96Khs bitrate but in my research I have read somewhere that Macbook Pros, only started being “high resolution capable” until late 2013 models.

Does this make sense to you?

I have already adjusted the MP Midi’s parameters to the max bitrate allowable (196Khz if I remember correctly) and have used the optical output, but it doesn’t change anything.

My DAC doesn’t have a display, so I am going with the bitrate that I see in the Audirvana interface. I see 96Khz coming in and I see 44Khz going out.

So far I have assumed that this is because my MP is not high resolution capable and this is what started me to look for a streamer.

Thank you!

What kind of subscription you have with Tidal? Could you paste the debug info here?

That’s not true. Macs can play pretty much any resolution, with the exception of DSD512 and up, as this would require NativeDSD drivers.

Yes! Where do I find it?

Looks like you’re limiting it to 48KHz. Check in Audirvana if you have by mistake set the max sample rate to 48KHz. If not, check the system settings.
