Dac 24/44.1 flac information always 16/ 44,1

Audirvana shows my Dac to be 24/. 44,1 but flac files are always 16/ 44,1.
Higher rate files sound better than the ones not showing the high definitions Icon. Am I missing quality?
Thanks Damien in advance.

No, this is just presentation. What you see is the max bit width the USB interface supports. The file is played bit-perfect.

I just checked the bitrate supported by my tosslink on wikipedia. They say no problem for any format bandwidth and bitrate. No USB connection to my Lin preamp.
Any other explanation?

How are you connected to the DAC? Can you paste the debug info here?

Good morning Alex:
Thanks so much for your quick answer.
I am conected via optical tosslink.

Thanks again

The 24bit is the max bit depth the audio interface presents. I wouldn’t worry about that.
