Thanks to you all! I will try all of this and let you know.

I vaguely remember that I already tried to disable integer mode, but didn’t help. So, I will start with Antoines option, altough I only use m4a files.

In addition: To summarize and be clear, I have 3 problems with AS:

  1. stuttering with files above 44.1/16
  2. crashing several times in a day
  3. some blurring in the right channel, but not with every song
  4. an issue with Sonarworks (DSP software) from within AS, witch I don’t use yet. Sonarworks is working on it, but no results yet.

My instinct tells me (as an old retired IT guy) that they can be related to one issue (except issue 4)

My CPU load is often very high, until 100%
Can that be or become a problem too?

Can you say when you need this option? Is there a list of streamer brands/models/firmware that only works well with ‘avoid raw pcm’? Or in general what kind of problems this option is suitable for?

I understand that. But what kind of issues do you know this option can help with? And what if you enable the option on a device with no problems, do you create problems? Are there specific streamer implementations that are known to require this option?

Is it useful to start collecting data from the users who needs it and with what hardware?

Yes, I did this too, besides activating rBrain to 192/24.

If the starting of playback have some issue when you are playing to a UPnP endpoint like your Yamaha, it will display this:

Which means it can’t pass our raw pcm stream test (it’s what we use for radios).

You said that with upsampling you do not have this stuttering issue anymore, is it still the case or not?

But the main thing is, if you have a crash with Studio, do you have a window appearing with a big yellow sign and a lot of text in it? This is the crash report I will need form you. Do you have one or not at all?

Hi Antoine,

Yesterday I had no (zero) problems after I changed the setting you mentioned, including upsampling to 192 (my device maximum). And today I am playing again and hopefully everything stays okay today too! I think this setting solved several problems. I wish I did know this before after contacting your firm before!!

About the crashes I had before: there was always an Apple report with a lot of tekst in it. I remember I have send it to AS before, but if you wish I can try to generate it again tomorrow, if everything stays okay today.

One addition: CPU load is sometimes low/modest. But a lot of time it is very high until 100%. That concerns me a bit. Is it better to replace my late 2013 computer with a new one?

Please do so, if you can also send some information about how we can reproduce it it would be great.

Do you have other softwares opened other than Studio? Maybe Chrome?

Okay, tomorrow I will try it!
The CPU load is very irregular; right now it is very low.
Sometimes I use Safari and Apple Music at the same time, but not Chrome.

Hi Antoine, I could not generate the crash so quickly, but there seems to be an app (console) where crashes are stored. I send you the latest I got but I also have a few others, if you want, but I thing they are the same.

Based on what I can see it seems to be Sonarworks plugin that is making Studio crashing,

Have you talked about it with Sonarworks? They have a Studio partner account in their technical team, they may have been able to reproduce your issue.

Just a side step. If you haven’t bought Sonarworks yet.
For the past 1.5 years I have been able to use the competitor Dirac without any problems.
You could give it a try.

I bought it already and it was working fine until one day…
First I want to get it working again, because it did work fine at the beginning.
And it was not cheap in my opinion, so we will see…

Yes, Antoine, that Sonarworks was not working (no correction lines visible through AS), but not about the crashes it caused.

I will inform them about the crashes and disable Sonarworks for a while, because it is still not working after a few updates.
