DoP Mac M1

Bonjour,
Pourquoi le DoP sur Mac M1 ne fonctionne pas SVP? Je ne comprends pas.
C’est bien Audirvana, le lecteur, qui encapsule le signal DSD dans une enveloppe PCM, non?
Ce signal avec le passeport PCM peut passer le filtre du système et peut être transmis au DAC par USB normalement.
Le DAC reconstitue le signal DSD et le traite comme tel.

Remove the plug-ins and try again. For DoP to work, there should be no processing on.

DSDxxx playback will automatically bypass the plug-in… I have a HTRF plug-in inserted for DXD 352.8kHz playback, and I don’t need to remove it when playing my binaural DSDxxx files… Maybe the plug-in is interfering, but I doubt it…

Turn-off “Integer Mode” … make sure your firmware is up to date… Also, it looks like you may be limited to playing DSD64 on the Hengel device because the maximum PCM sample-rate it supports for DoP 1.1 is 176.4kHz.

This ‘C-Media Speaker’ thing is disconcerting… is this the USB chip used in the Hengel device?

I can’t Dop in 1.0 or 1.1.

CMedia is the company producing the components for a lot of electronic devices.

Reduce the pre-load cache to 4000MB.

What’s the file you’re trying to play? Try again with integer mode on.

Queen, A Kind of Magic and I’ve tried also Dead Can Dance, Aion.
Integer Mode Off or On gives the same result: no sound output.

Which Hegel model you have? Try also with a file downloaded from 2L.

I have a HD30. There is no output sound from the DSF files.
There is a SCRRRRCHHHH from my speakers.

Try to dont’ limit your DAC to 24bits depth

Hmm, in technical specifications it doesn’t mention DSD, even though above in the text i states that it “accepts DSD signal”. Whatever that means. I suspect that the DAC converts it to PCM on the fly. Maybe it only supports base rate DSD.

You can try with lower bitrate DSD, for example DSD64. Also ask Hegel about the DoP support.

The DAC itself is limited to DSD 128 max.
It is suposed to decode and play the signal it receives from its feeder, which is Audirvana.
I can play DSF files 64/128 and 256 with these settings (Plugin Active, Integer Mode ON and DoP 1.1)

You debug report shows the DAC only supporting PCM to 192kHz,…
The DoP 1.1 carrier signal for DSD64 is 176.4kHz and the DoP 1.1 carrier signal for DSD128 is 352.8kHz

I recommend increasing your pre-load buffer back to where you had it for flawless DSD64 playback.

Also, if you are playing .dsf files this alludes to these being extracted from SACD ISO files… Be aware these files can be corrupted from a bad extraction process and they must be extracted to the native DSD64 sample-rate.

This looks like the chip in the Hegel device:

If this is the device in the HD30 there is something wrong… It seems that it is not being fully exploited in this Hegel device, or there is a problem with “Interger Mode” being able to usurp the C-Media device control firmware…

It’s not OK… You should see the DAC as running as DSD256 or given the max PCM sample-rate of 192kHz the Hegel is showing in the debug report, you would see the DAC running at DSD64 if the file is DSD64

Hegel is not in the numbers game. It’s a PCM only DAC.

Nothing wrong with letting Audirvana down convert to PCM and play it like this.
