Hello,
I don’t expect anyone to know this, but still thought I’d give it a try…
I would like to buy a Pioneer PD-50AE SACD Player and feed its internal DAC DSD64 files from Audirvana (on a mac mini) via DOP over USB. Would someone by any chance know if the Pioneer supports DOP? (I’ve checked the Pioneer’s manual but it doesn’t provide that level of detail)
Use case sounds weird? I’m old enough to appreciate the handling of discs, that’s why I’m thinking about the Pioneer at all. With its internal DAC it could offer me additional flexibility to play my DSD files over the USB connection from Audirvana at times when I can’t be bothered to look for the SACD. Also I’d like to try out room correction like DIRAC Live as an Audirvana plug-in. That requires a USB connection.
Up until now I’ve been playing my DSD-files from Audirvana via UPnP over Wi-Fi into a Chord Poly/Mojo2 streamer/DAC combo. There’s no issue with DOP in this combination, but I would like to take the Chords out of the system to use them more for their intended portable purpose. They are also not the last word in usability in a Hi-Fi system.
In case you should know about other SACD players which would support this use case, I’d by glad to hear about them. The Pioneer is attractive as it’s already a few years old and therefore affordable at 1,000 Euro.
The Technics SL-G700MK2 is great, does it all, but expensive at 3,000 Euro. And I don’t need its streaming capabilities. For that I have Audirvana.
Thanks,
Tom
