Now, I have absolutely zero skin in this game.
However, am I not correct in thinking that the Audirvana audio engine is the same with both Studio and Origin?
If so, why is the EQ function not included with Origin?
Is this a subtle mechanism to persuade Origin users who may want an EQ function to pony up for Studio instead.
Am genuinely intreagued.
A different perspective on this rhetorical question…
“Why should the EQ be included in Origin?”
Origin users can employ EQ via plug-ins…
Another point of view…Does this define a qualitative difference or a functional difference or both? and what impact on user and potential user perception of value of either player?
From my perspective after integrating EQ studio in my playback scenario, is the EQ is most certainly a value add to Audirvāna Studio, and my subscription has become more valuable to me as a result of the integration of this high-quality DSP. I feel my investment in Damien and the Audirvāna team is paying dividends.
I have referenced this in Antoine’s comments already… He says that the EQ is not implimented in Origin “for now”.
His post said this:
Hi everyone, we do not plan to add the EQ to Audirvāna Origin for the moment. I’m sorry for this confusion as it was a mistake on the FAQ.
I think that implies it will be in the future. I’d like it but it is NOT a deal breaker for me as this Audirvana engine runs beautifully as is thank you.
Well this is the question: if it is just a delay, maybe there is a reason but it would be nice to explain it as it is not obvious given that the “engine” for the local library is supposed to be the same.
If on the contrary it is a commercial decision, then it is for the first time ever a change in the nature of AO which would no longer be the full Audirvana for local libraries. This runs against the way Audirvana Origin has been marketed and sold. If so, what is next? Are we on a road towards an Audirvana “Lite”?
Again, I’ll say that I’d love to have it in Origin. However, that’s my wish. I appreciate the makers, engineers, owners of the machine are entitled to impliment improvements, extras etc in their time-frame, if at all. I suggest to not overthink this issue.
As it stands Origin is a brilliant player.
Also,…
Antoine said in his post regarding this issue:

I have to admit that I was a little confused as well to find the announced EQ not being included in the last Origin Update.
I just purchased a license upgrade in march for nearly 40 Euros to get future Updates up to 2027 just to find out, that certain updates will not (or “not for the moment”) be included in Origin.
Of course it is no deal breaker but it is somehow irritating as I used to think the only difference would be the Streaming capabilities of Studio.
Audirvāna Origin offers you all the features of the original version of Audirvāna to manage and play your local music library and more.
https://audirvana.com/audirvana-origin/#features
To date I have purchased:
Audirvana 3.5 for Windows.
Audirvana 3.5 for Mac.
Audirvana APP (when it was released it was sold)
Audirvana Origin
A one-year subscription to Audirvana Studio.
I was also thinking about doing this update for Origin, but I gave up.
Well, Jriver has a parametric EQ for, lord, 10 years or more built in.
For Audirvana, would expect some intelligence to add EQ to a tag, say 70’s rock that had poor bass, have a preset amount. As to when, hmmmm, not now is a kind of answer from politician, certainly if we are vocal enough it should be included next month, instead of multichannel which is of benefit for 10 users?
That level of customization is pathological and a superfluous waste of system resources. A blanket ‘genre’ EQ preset will never work for every title or track… Not realistic. … Better to change your perspective about subjective second-guessing of the artistic decisions imbued in the pre-recorded master encoding, and question whether or not your playback system and environment is optimized… EQ is not a ‘silver bullet’ for every playback scenario or any given track or album of any given genre.
I’ve said everything that I need to say on this subject!

I guess you were on the arresting committee for Galileo and totally ignore your opinion is on this matter.
Gee man, give it a rest… Your level of telling everyone that what they choose to do is pathological and a superfluous waste of system resources…
Instead of checking your golden ears maybe you should have a cog test…
It turns out that that was not my last word.
(Apologies for this Satuday morning rant.)
I completely agree with @Agoldnear the EQ is not a ‘silver bullet’ for every playback scenario or any given track or album of any given genre.
My experience, albeit I’m not a professional soundest, is that every recording rests on it’s own merit. I have 16/44 recordings that are sublime for reasons of interpretation and sound quality. And some DSD64 / 128 etc that are rarely played. There are a myriad of complicated influences on music recordings that affect their listenability.
To even attempt to modify individual recordings is on the path to crazyness. For instance, I have one errant Nina Simone recording that has the bass majorly over-emphasised. Un-listenable. I now, after attempting EQing it, no longer listen to it.
The only reason for my EQ requirement is to give my overall system a tiny boost in areas that my DAC, preamp, amp and most importantly speakers and room fall ever-so-slightly below my expectations. My preference for the “perfect” sound system would cost me over $100 thousand dollars, (which would include, for starters, the delicious Magnepan MG30.7x in black oak with black cloth) consequently, my EQ adjustment, meanwhile, does a great job; until I win my lottery, hopefully tonight.
In the end, I’m deferring to the artistic and technical expertise of the performers and recording experts with a minute adjustment my end.
Of course, everybody has a right to their opinions. Let’s be kind with our words.
Now - I think I’ve said everything that I need to say on this subject!

That would be great indeed. Being able to add presets to any desired configuration (Playlist, Album, Tag) would be the only reason I would care for an integrated EQ otherwise I got more than enough plugins
