FALC files: 2 second pause between tracks

Other posts may call this gapless playback or continuous mix. It is now 2023.

Playing back live albums or other non-stop mixes on Audirvāna is highly annoying with the added 2 second breaks between tracks.

I’m using Studio edition of Audirvāna, so all the tracks are available to be read ahead. Read ahead buffer anyone?

With all the plugin options, is there a plugin for this?

A simple option in the UI would be nice, but I couldn’t find it.

Are there any plans to remove the 2 second pause between tracks?

You have 2 seconds between tracks… check your dac or streamer, i never had this problem, Audirvana can do that since beginning…

Gapless playback is a supported feature of Audirvana. But it’s an ID3tag attribute, only tracks meant to be gapless will be gapless. It seems Audirvana doesn’t let you set this tag in the app, so you need to use an external ID3tag editor (such as Meta, mp3tag or even Music.app). It’d be nice if Audirvana featured a checkbox in the track’s info box.

I’m not very knowledgeable about this feature, it seems it requires some calculation and I don’t know how they happen and how they’re stored. But what’s for sure, gapless playback is supported by Audirvana, and it’s an attribute for specific tracks.

[edit : struck the parts I’m not sure about anymore haha]

Never knew this. I have gapless playback all the time no matter what I play with Audirvana Studio (usb dac Windows). I remember I made some recordings from a radio show, the files were without tags, played them in Audirvana with drag and drop into playlist window gaplessly with no problem.

You make me unsure about my previous statement, that gapless attribute might be only useful for burning/pressing physical disc haha (I’m getting older every year :joy:)
I’m not on my usual setup right now so I can’t make a test. But according to what you’re saying, then I’d go for RunHomeSlow’s diagnostic about DAC issue.

Thank you for your replies. Based on your replies, I examined my music files and it turned out the FLAC files I purchased were not cut properly. After editing the files (and a lot of time  I was able to playback without the extra 2 seconds.
