Fostex with 16/44 files in Audirvana

Sorry bitracer, I misunderstood your remark : I did that already, I tried the same FLAC as with Music and it does not work.

Have you granted audirvana to access some folders at the beginning, catalina ask for that

Don’t understand why. I assume it reset a driver somewhere. Nice but how do I solve it again ?..

here are a few hints in case I happen to interest Audirvana folks [ :astonished: ]

The problem seems to be linked to the resolution and the buffer management by Audirvana : in fact my successful test has been done with a HR (24 bits) album in Qobuz. And when I opened a 16 album file : here it comes again.

Few tries later : 24 bits OK, 16 bits KO

When you open a 16 bits song you hear a bit of the previous song then jump to the present one, and again. That’s why I write about memory buffer management problem.

I don’t know how to raise this situation to Audirvana support if someone can direct me to them ? I am in evaluation period so maybe I don’t have the possibility to get help ?

I would like to reproduce your issue, with which album of Qobuz did you made your test?

For example start with Bénabar ‘le début de la suite’, which is available in HR, then switch to Bénabar ‘Reprise des négociations’ which is not, and you experience the problem.

I couldn’t reproduce your issue, have you checked if you have a firmware update of your Fostex available?

I will check, but Colibri plays the album flawlessly whereas Audirvana does not.
If I open the album from local disk in 16/44 with the Fostex : OK with Colibri KO with Audirvana.
Same thing if I open a 16/44 album with Qobuz app : OK, same album with Qobuz through Audirvana.
Did you try with a MBP 16" ?

DAC is already at latest firmware version : v1.10

sorry I mistyped : other example if I open a 16/44 album with Qobuz app : OK, same album with Qobuz through Audirvana : KO. With the Fostex DAC. Everything is ok with internal speakers.

Have you tried enabling upsampling? You can do it by going in the audio device settings in Audirvana in the upsampling section.

Hello, it works with “x2”, I don’t really understand the different options but indeed it works.

I assume the introduction of “optimizer” does the trick. Thx.
