Just static

all of a sudden all i get is static
how do i fix this
haven’t changed anything on my system
TIDAL/Qobuz work fine on their respective web apps
ROON works fine
i have very simple system:
Schiit Yggy DAC Schiit Rggy amp
mac min 2021 M1 16 GB ram
have had Audirvana since it’s inception
created a ticket on different page
please hel
bobbmd

More information needed… please paste your debug information report found here Support → My Account → Help → Debug info in this post…

Also describe your system configuration… USB? Wi-Fi? Ethernet?

Try shutting down your computer and other system components and power them up, starting from the computer on out to your DAC.

:notes: :eye: :headphones: :eye: :notes:

Ok Will do but I think all that info was on the thread I posted elsewhere with ticket
I will keep you posted
Thanks for the reply
System is pretty simple wifi from Mac mini 2021 M1 16 GB ram to Schiit yggy DAC Rggy amp
Like I said ROON with TIDAL and Qobuz and TIDAL and Qobuz alone all working
bobbmd

Maybe you could provide the link to that post? Now it’s not directly clear that you already posted elsewhere for other members.

The debug info that @Agoldnear is asking for, might always be helpful.

Thanks!

I get static at times and I am not sure if it’s related to the upsampling I have turned on. Just the basic 2x. Maybe it starts when Audirvana Studio gets to a hires track? MQA track?

@bobbmd @Lonestar … Define “static”… Is this continuous? and/or a ‘hash-like’ noise? Is this “static” random in nature, that sounds like a “tick”, “click”, “crackling” or an intermittent “crunch”?..
Pasting your debug information report here will help folks, help you with this behavior you are experiencing.

:notes: :eye: :headphones: :eye: :notes:

More than just static, crunching, hissing, grinding, nasty noise. caused one of my amps to go into protect mode. continuous until I get to the app and stop the track of force quit Studio. Thanks

Put your sound at zero…
start a song…
then copy the debug right away and paste it here

@RunHomeSlow @Lonestar @Agoldnear @Amarok1969
This is clarify my situation and the solution of it:
all of a sudden i had terrible static hissing noise when using Audirvana Studio
my DAC a Schiit Yggdrasial did not go into ‘protect’ mode nor were my Legacy Audio Studio HD monitors damaged.
My ROON Labs server was not affected nor were my TIDAL and Qobuz apps streaming services
There was no problem for Audvirana Studio(or any thing else) to play through my Meridian Explorer 2 DAC which is USB out from my mac mini to Schiit Amp Ragarnock.
AND I had no issues using my Apple Airpods Pro Gen 2.
I tried to send debug log but i guess that failed
As suggested I turned off all the boxes in the audio section of AS and reintroduced them one at a time.
The culprit was “DAC Input” apparently "Exclusive Access had to be turned off.
This eliminated the terrible noise hissing and static.
What I can’t understand is why this just happened I haven’t done anything to those AUDIO settings in years.
I want to thank all of you for your assistance and suggestions–BUT I certainly me and others who might encounter this problem would like to know why this happened-- I am just glad my DAC and speakers did not get damaged.
Now I would like to know what settings in AUDIO are most recommended for my simple system other than exclusive access mode of course.
bobbmd/Robert

Please paste your debug information here…
There are known issues with some of the early Schiit USB implementations.
:notes: :eye: :headphones: :eye: :notes:

I have no idea how to ‘paste’ anything but will get teenage neighbor to help me
FYI this not an early but UTD Schiit DAC and most expensive one and if it was a USB problem why didn’t this happen with ROON or my free standing TIDAL and Qobuz apps?
Look, it is solved no more static but i will try some more to get you the debug logs.

You asked for a rationalization for why this behavior occurred… You are not supplying enough information for folks to have a chance at answering the question and provide insights as to how to avoid this behavior from recurring.
:notes: :eye: :headphones: :eye: :notes:

Anyone have this issue with Audirvana. This has been happening frequently. Yesterday when logging in to my Audirvana account, all went well as usual. This is the issue, very often when choosing a song to play, I hit the arrow and the song is highlighted and starts to[play. However, very often after just 3 to 5 seconds the song stops and solid static (at set volume level) starts. I immediatey hit pause and then the lock icon to the right. I then choose the same song and hit play and it starts and plays properly the second time. Does not do this to every song chosen, but often. This forces me to lower the volume 20db or so before the song starts to avoid the loud static and then raise volume if no static present. Rshaw

More information is needed regarding your playback system configuration and Audirvāna settings/DAC settings, etc… Please paste your debug information here so folks can help the best possible… It is found here: Settings–> My Account–> Help–> Debug info

:notes: :eye: :headphones: :eye: :notes:

I have this too once in a while. Just white noise bursting out of nowhere. I’ll stop AS, play again and most of the times it’s gone. Sometimes I have to restart everything

Thanks for the response. Merry Christmas. I have a 20db step down volume button on my LA-4 Pre Amp. which comes in handy. Not a major issue, but, an issue never the less.
When you type in something to Audirvana, you usually get a response, that we need much more information. If there was an 800 number with a human on the other side, that would be great, CAN YOU Imagine a HUMAN, someone to talk with about an issue you have with THEIR product. I t would make things so much easier. I would pay more money for that service. As you said normally when I go to retry the song again, it plays without issue. Can You imagine explaining this to a assistant, and he or she says, sure, we can fix that,WOW!!! Robert TN

You are presuming that by providing more information here so folks can help you as best possible, is futile…

Perhaps you should ask yourself why the majority of Audirvāna users are not experiencing the behavior you are describing… You would see a lot more folks chiming in here in this post… All playback scenarios are not the same, and there are a myriad of variables that can play into a behavior like you are experiencing… more detail regarding your playback component amalgamation, etc, is essential in getting good responses and help… If you didn’t need help, why then did you post here? … What you think should be is irrelevant… Audirvāna is not responsible for your playback system configuration… :smirk:

:notes: :eye: :headphones: :eye: :notes:

Again thanks but I solved the problem by turning OFF exclusive mode

I just had this static. It happens very random, my Debug info is here: Audirvana Studio 2.9.5 (20906)

I have followed this so-called static problem in the last year or so, with a considerable number of users raising it in different threads.
It is clear that this problem is happening on the UPNP connection. Do you have any statistics, how many users prefer USB connection, so they never encounter this problem.
Or how many of them connect via UPNP? How many of them experience this problem?
