I’m a new user of Origin so forgive me, but for the life of me I can’t find a setting which allows me to keep the last place I was at in a track. I listen to a lot of longer pieces and whenever I return to a piece, even just a little later and without closing Origin, I hit play and it starts over. It’s driving me crazy…
Seems like pretty basic stuff, is there no setting to override this behavior or what am I doing wrong?
Thank you!
Thank you @Agoldnear - so more specifically I see what’s happening after testing.
Origin unpauses and resets the track to the beginning when the DAC is released/unlocked. Maybe I can just leave this locked and try things a different way, but often during the day I unlock it for Zoom calls, watching client videos, etc. and then when I return to Origin everything has been reset. You can actually watch this happen when you unlock the DAC.
There might be other instances when this occurs but this is definitely the big one that bites me throughout the day.
The ‘unlock’ in Audirvana is basically the ‘stop’ button. Only the pause button behaves the way you want.
All the music players I know (Foobar, JRiver etc. etc.) do not remember the position when stopped, only when paused.
I have Audirvana running on a dedicated PC (NUC) for music and I do my work on another desktop computer, so I don’t have your problem. I would not dare to suggest that you should buy another computer especially for Audirvana, but if you still have an unused pc or laptop lying around maybe that is a solution?
How about removing exclusive access to Audirvana in the day at work (losing quality?), pause the song… use other softwares then after return to Audirvana hitting pause again to continu the song?
I don’t know if @johnny_n uses Windows or Mac. On the Mac the exclusive settings exist in Audirvana, but not so on Windows (as far as I can tell). A bit strange, because most other music players I know on Windows do have those settings. Maybe another feature request for Audirvana?
AndyLubke’s response would have helped me, when I ran into to the same problem as a newbee. Understanding the difference between pause and stop is essential for operating Audirvana.
I am on a Mac, so I do see those settings and I think @RunHomeSlow’s approach is going to be the most workable… I don’t have another PC available currently but I will keep that that in mind, that probably is the ideal solution.
Now that I’m paying closer attention Audirvana does actually say “Click on the lock to stop playback and release audio output.” I just hadn’t made that simple connection with pause and stop that @AndyLubke points out…
Or maybe I’ll keep some post-it notes for jotting down timings throughout the day as I stop and start
Thanks so much - I appreciate the advice and assistance in helping me to understand what’s happening!
