Lost connection with iFi hip-dac

Audirvana drops connection with my iFi hip-dac and defaults to my laptop Built-in output. It happens unexpectedly or it happens if volume control knob is moved or cable connecting the DAC to my MacBook Pro is touched (Catalina 10.15.5). The hip-dac then appears on the devices’ list unexpectedly, too. Can you please advise how to remedy this annoying issue?

Hello @SlawekN, how are you connected to your DAC? Are you using SPDIF?

When you change the usb port of your Mac and you it a little bit, does it loose the connection to your DAC?

Have you tried with a different cable?

Hi Damien. I removed a wireless USB mouse “pin” from the other USB port and connected the DAC. No issues! Tried back the “problem” port and no issues. Perhaps that was the culprit. Let’s hope it will stay like that permanently. Thank you.

Thanks. I am awaiting the shipment of new cable. But is seems that the problem might have gone away. See my response to Damien.
