Macbook pro 2011 running High Sierra

Should I use the legacy version with the High Sierra? I have tried the latest normal Studio version, but there are bugs, especially with Metadata.

I use the legacy 3.5.50 with my mid 2010 MBP/High Sierra.
It works just fine but I do streaming from Qobuz only, I have no local files.

If you have it already, just try it, it is yours, both version can run on same computer, they don’t use the same database or preferences… if you don’t have that license, you won’t get one now for sure.

The only thing people would use high sierra macos software is that this is the oldest os software that still use the Direct Mode best direct computer software developped at the time by Damien Audirvana developper

I’m not sure what you mean, can you explain it better?

Apple close some access for developper in recents macOS.

High Sierra is the latest OS that you can still have
in Audirvana preferences access to the Direct Mode options.

Some users still think it was the best sound that can achieve Audirvana.
Shortest path in the computer…

I see, but you mean audirvana legacy, right? I have the studio version on high sierra now and don’t see a direct mode option. The studio version doesn’t seem to work perfectly with high sierra, that’s why I wonder if the legacy would be better. What you’re saying is interesting…

I think there might be some misunderstanding here.

You can not buy a Audirvana legacy version anymore. If you own one already just install it and try it out. You can install both Studio and the legacy version on the same computer. If you don’t own a legacy version you are out of luck, because, as said, you can’t buy that anymore.

I thought it could be downloaded…

Audirvana provides the download of old legacy versions as a service for people who already own it.
Only if you already own it you can activate it. I assume that @RunHomeSlow was trying to tell you that.

Any interesting alternative to audirvana legacy for qobuz streaming on old mbp/ os?
I have roon legacy also, but roon has too much going on and the sq is not the best. Good overall experience though. I recently tried audirvana studio on that computer and although it is better than roon sonically, it has too many issues.

Sorry, can’t help you there. I am a Windows user.
I own Audirvana 3.5 (a legacy version) and have a subscription on Audirvana Studio. I have both installed on Windows 11 and both work without problems there.

As an alternative on Windows I use Foobar2000 (only local library no streaming) which is free and very good, but the Mac version has a lot of limitations.

Got it, thank you
