Marantz ND 8006 Connection UpnP or USB?

Connection with external Audio Devices UPnP / DLNA

Hi,

I have Marantz ND-8006 Streamer/DAC and Audirvana on Macbook with TIDAL subscription (HiFi option)

I have two option for the connection

  1. Upnp connection between the Audirvana and Marantz ND-8006
  2. USB-DAC connection between the Macbook and Marantz ND-8006

Can you please explain the technical differences between the two options, and which one sounds better?

Both are bit-perfect, so in theory both should sound the same.

I practice there are many more aspects to consider, but you can tell us which one sounds better to you.

Actually I haven’t test it with HİFi USB cable yet. But even with regular usb cable it seems that sound quality slightly better than UPNP connection.
For that reason I am confused and trying to understand functions of Audirvana for both option (if there is a difference) and the reason for the difference on sound quality

It comes down to the implementation. The features are the same. There’s also the practicality aspect to consider if you need to place the device far away from the computer.
