Max volume when I push the "volume down" key on my mobile phone

I am new to Audirvana and I really appreciate the audio quality.
I just find the interface not so intuitive and all the menus for beginners not easy to understand.
Main improvement should focus on the display of the song lists and the possibility to easily order by genre, artist, etc directly on the interface and not via the menu.

My main subject and concern here is that I am using the remote function with my mobile phone, an Archos Diamond Alpha plus with android and I had the very bad surprise, several times, to have the volume at the maximum while I pushed the “volume down” key of my mobile !!! very unsafe for my ears and dangerous for my equipment…Has it already been experienced? I don’t dare touching the volume on my phone anymore, neither on the application itself as it changes the volume very strongly. I would like that the application or remote DO NOT change the volume on my amplifier (I have 2x250W…) as it does currently.
I have seen the menu “VOLUME AUDIO” but I don’t understand because it seems to have no impact on the maximum volume. Also I tried to unclick “control of the volume by software” but it does not change anything. The solution should be there, no ?

I love this appli but it freightens me because each time I fear to have the max volume when I start it or during the listening (I am used to use the volume keys of my mobile phone…)…any help welcome !
Thanks

Bonjour @nico3182,

I am having the a similar problem with the remote when using Audirvana to control the volume. Often times when first starting the remote application or changing albums, the volume setting on the remote automatically moves to the middle of the slider graphic which results in a huge and unsafe volume increase.

The volume control on the remote could also be much improved. The slider is too small and should be larger and more easily toggled. The volume control function should also be made to default to infinite db when the app is started or when changing albums as a safety feature.

By the way, I am using Audirvana with a Benchmark HGC DAC2 that has the volume potentiometer at 0 db to effectively bypass that device.

Hello @Chubby,

Thank you for your message and your feedback. We are aware of some changes that need to be done in the Remote app and we will do it in a future update of the Remote. For the volume issue, did you activated Software Volume Control in Audirvana?

Yes, software volume control is enabled and I have the maximum audio limit at 100% and volume leveling set to preserve album dynamics.

I hope you guys can get this ironed out very soon. The Audirvana software volume control is definitely superior sounding to a preamplifier volume control. It would be nice if the remote interface had a much larger volume control that is easier to precisely operate. A virtual knob at the bottom of the screen perhaps?

Before you activate Software Volume control in Audirvana, can you set your DAC volume at the maximum volume audio you want to use with it?

Hello for me this is much too dangerous and not acceptable for a “high quality” audio software. That’s why I stopped using Audirvana but I’ve lost 100 euros…
I’ve bought a DAC based on raspberry and using Squeezer, it works perfectly !
sorry that Audirvana does not propose more robust interface.
Nicolas

I have the DAC volume set to maximum in order to bypass the preamplifier

I would like to be able to use Audirvana with a DAC and no preamplifier

Audirvana > DAC > Amplifier

Hi , I am new user this day and i have exactly the same problem.

New user here still in the trial period, I’ve just experienced a very dangerous volume increase using the ios remote volume control when connected to my uPnP amp. Really a very very bad experience for me, this is just not safe.

After it happened three times I have deleted the app, distorted sound from my speakers at ridiculous volume levels. NOT HAPPY

Is there any update on when the mobile app will be updated to fix this volume control issue?

Hi Damien, I am also experiencing the problem, that the volume setting of the remote is not corresponding with the setting on my mac. This is very dangerous. Is there any solution ahead?

Hello @chris23086,

When you make a volume change in Audirvana, does the volume change at the same time in the Remote?
