Multichannel UPnP playback in AO 2.6 and AS 2.11

AO 2.6 adds Multichannel UPnP playback … to compatible UPnP players… Question is what makes them compatible. I have been experimenting with my Oppo 205 and with Yamaha A3070. Neither of these work for DSD or PCM. I am not surprised for the Yamaha that I think does not really accept multichannel over UPnP, but I am puzzled with the Oppo 205 which does accept multichannel in both DSD and PCM over UPnP. I have been able to send over UPnP both through the Oppo app and LMS with the UPnP plugin. With AO 2.6, the music is sent as Stereo although I set the Oppo 205 settings in Audirvana to 6 channels… Anything I missed in settings?

Thanks. I did indeed check everything and as far as I can tell, it is all set correctly for multichannel music. I can play multichannel files into the Oppo, but not from Audirvana that sends stereo from my multichannel files, (whether dsf or flac)…

Do you know if you are actually playing the multi-channel file…? Did you rip those files yourself…?
If you are using macOS, check your speaker output configuration in Audio MIDI Setup

Hi Agoldnear. Not sure how Audio Midi setup would apply/be relevant to a UPnP connection? It sees my Mac speakers and can connect to Airplay devices, but it is only through Audirvana that I can connect to a UPnP device on the Mac… Happy to try something else…

I see how that would apply to an USB or Airplay connection, but Audio Midi Setup does not see UPnP devices… Only Audirvana does…

The system needs to know there are more than two channels… Show a screenshot of your Speaker set-up in Audio MIDI Setup… It is packetizing the data with the appropriate headers…
