Multiple outputs UPnP *and* Airplay?

Apologies in advance if this is covered elsewhere - I have looked but can’t see anything.

Here’s the thing - is there multiple audio outputs selection (specifically UPnP and other, e.g. Airplay devices) in the offing for Audirvāna?

Is there a workaround specifically for simultaneous UPnP and one/several Airplay devices? I would love to get my multi-room setup back.

Currently using studio on a MacMini 2014 to play via UPnP to a Wiim Amp - from which Airplay casting functionality has been removed by the manufacturer, remotely. Yes, I could buy some Wiim Minis, but at a cost, right? I’ve already got 3 AirPort Express units around the house. Wiim have now reversed their earlier ‘device whitelisting’ to retain this functionality.

I know about Airfoil, but you can’t use that whilst using Studio to UPnP, so this is about convenience rather than anything else, but wouldn’t it be good? While we’re at it an Apple TV Audirvāna remote app to get a now playing screen at least would also be good, wouldn’t it?

Thanks for help and advice.

There is a reason many audiophiles that were Roon users here on this forum, prefer the sound-quality of Audirvana… The premise that Damien and the Audirvana team hang their hats on, is, that Audirvana is designed to be one of the finest, (if not the finest) sounding digital-audio player available to the discerning audiophile… This performance is inherent in the implementation of an efficient playback software/host OS and platform strategy that serves to achieve those goals… Roon is designed to be everything to everyone and things are compromised in that approach… Streaming to multiple points on a network is a different tangent and the compromise is tangibly audible in comparison to the focus of Audirvana.

Perhaps you’re responding to a different question? I don’t use Roon.

The previous poster is definitely referring to your question.

The concise version of his reply is NO.

Nope doesn’t answer the question - more simply put - essentially to understand if there’s a technical or quality issue with outputting to system audio and UPnP simultaneously, and whether that’s in the pipeline.

Roon is just a metaphor and “poster-child” for any system burdened with the management of multiple endpoints on a network and the inherent compromise in sound-quality under these conditions…

Right, very good, well done you. Thanks for sharing.

As a long-time Apple user… since the IIe and being involved with the platform for digital-audio for multiple decades… I suggest that if you are not concerned with sound-quality and AirPlay being the lowest common-denominator, that you pursue the Multi-Output Device configuration found in Audio MIDI Setup
