Multiple segfault while idle

Hi,
Using Audirvāna on Archlinux lead to segfault multiple time a day.

Here are the log obtenaired. There’s no interaction at the segfault moment : just launch as user during the day.

Is it known or is there a workaround ?

Following are the information needed.

Because I am not an expert at these things, all I can contribute is the following:

  • The two Arch distros I am using (one is ArcoLinux with XFCE, the other a minimal install of Arch, no GUI) have been rock solid with Audirvāna, never a segfault. In both of these distros I have the same kernel as you, and I am also running Tailscale on both.

  • The only thing I noticed in your debug info was that 746MB seems like very little memory to devote to the audio buffer.

Question: You have tried deleting the ~/.config/audirvana/ directory and reinstalling?

Ok I tried to remove directory. (I thought I did it before).
Reinstalling is not an issue as I did it multiple times.

About the 764MB, am I right that this can be moved in «loading/decoding» slider ? If it’s the case, the max value is ≈ 4 GB.

Ok not so much luck right now.

Seeing the same values again looks a bug to me.

Feature, actually. :slightly_smiling_face:

Saved in the cloud to some extent I believe unless you actively get rid of them with a new audirvana-studio.ini. Did you create a new one when you reinstalled?

Perhaps try reinstalling, making a new audirvana-studio.ini, and rebooting before you start Audirvāna. Ensure the only line in the ini file when you start is the one about accepting the EULA.

And if this doesn’t work, my apologies because I don’t know anything further to do.

I removed all Audrivana, echoed the “EulaAccepted = 1” and started Audirvana…

Maybe you could try to set the buffersize at approximately 2000 mb.

And another crash… I have no idea to add some changes…

I am sorry to say there’s nothing I personally can think of. Someone who understands what is happening with the crash report will help, I hope.

One last thought about this: Have you tried a clean install of the latest Audirvana 2.9.6 AUR package? Not that I think there is anything in particular in the new build that will solve your problem, but may as well try if you haven’t yet.

Tried with last PKGBUILD available and… still segfault.
I will wait for someone having new idea. I’d love to see it stable and usable.

Hi @mrmen, have you made all the updates available for your Linux distro?

Hi,
I tried multiple updates, deletes and all.

But right now, I’m rebuilding for another times my db. And it seems to be ok at the moment.
I will reboot the NUC and let it run tomorrow to have an idea about the stability.

Did you have a database from an old version? Or this was a database built for the first time for recent versions?

I can’t be sure to have removed it recently or not. (Too many manipulations, rm cp mv recently).

But right now, the NUC is on since 7 this morning and Audirvana is still here.
So maybe a db conflict.

I’ll now be able to try the software.

Hi @mrmen, on the off chance you’ve not consider this already: Audirvana is rock solid on Windows 11 and easier to manage thanks to having the full GUI. (Assuming your NUC can run Windows 11)

I ran Audirvana on a Raspi 5 and encountered many issues—including regular segfaults—when driving output over UPnP or Chromecast. Moving to a low-end Windows 11 mini PC (dual core, 8GB RAM) has proven to be exceptionally stable.

Food for thought …

Strange that there are so many different experiences.
I am running Linux Core Player on Linux Mint and it is more stable than when I ran the Windows version on the same laptop. And it uses far less CPU and RAM.
