Music stops at end of track

When playing to my Hiby R3 Pro, music stops frequently at the end of a track and ultimately Audirvana give a “Request Error” pop up error. I have tried the raw pcm, unwanted stops and gapless playback options but the issue persists. Any idea how I can get this to work reliably?

I recently had something similar occur after an extremely long period of flawless playback over UPnP. Basically when playing a play queue playback would stop at the end of a track intermittently and I would occasionally get a “request error” As this had not occured previously the key to locating the problem was identifying what had changed?

To cut a long story short I found that in my case it was a network issue.

To remove this from your potential cause list I would do the following;

  1. Cold reboot your network, computer and end points.
  2. If you rely on wireless for any part of your transmission chain try and replace with ethernet cable.
  3. If not possible (as is the case with my playback chain) then if your wireless router allows setting bandwidth priority to selected devices turn this on for your computer and the HiBy endpoint.
  4. If your HiBy has a network test option then run it to check throughput at your device is sufficient (50 mbps is typically required for a flawless playback).
  5. As playing around with options for unwanted playback stops, raw pcm and gapless playback did not solve the problem turn them back to the original setting.

After doing this my system has not suffered from unwanted playback stops for the last couple of weeks since the issue occured. I have attached a link to my post which explains the issue I had, sounds similar to yours.

Thanks for the reply.

I suppose I should have noted that the R3 Pro works with other UPnP apps such as BubbleUPnp and mConnect. It’s only Audirvana (and LMS bridge) that have a problem. With LMS bridge, I have to set a fake content length and disable gapless to get it to work (or enable flow mode, which basically sends a continuous stream without track transitions or album art).

My network is 100% wired up to the Hiby which is wireless. My Asus router does have QOS but that doesn’t prioritize LAN to LAN, only WAN to LAN where I have a 1 Gbps connection (but that really shouldn’t impact local tracks from Audirvana). Wireless Multimedia (WMM) is enabled by default.

It may be coincidence, but there seem to be start or end of track issues with multiple Android based renderers, You’re seeing them on the HiBy, I’m seeing slightly different ones with my Rose Hifi and there are a number of posts about similar issues on the EverSolo forums.

Thanks for the clarification, problem lies elsewhere.

Just wish that all manufacturers would put at least Gigabit ethernet cards in their streamers. Most of the older (including KEF systems from 2 years ago) still put 10/100 mbps network cards in their systems. Only seems to be latest gen systems that are putting gigabit ethernet into their streamers. Doesn’t take too much degradation to drop throughput to a level that can be problematic.

I saw between 100 and 300 Mbps connection speeds (5 GHz) over wifi while streaming (monitoring the router’s connection to the Hiby).

I live in a condo in Malaysia so unfortunately wifi over 2.4 and 5 Ghz bands is pretty crowded and performance is unreliable. Use a Wifi 7 router with cable/fibre backhaul but the limitation is with the KEF’s. Probably need to get a Chord 2Go to go with an Hugo 2 I have lying around to take advantage of its Gigabit ethernet capability and run an analogue cable to the Auxiliary input of the KEF’s.

I appreciate the attempts to help. Does Audirvana tech support watch these threads? I was hoping for some more help here.

Yes, but August is the national vacation month in France so things typically go quiet. Typically things will pick up again as it is September. Hopefully @Antoine will pickup on your issue this week and respond.

Hi @rlw6534,

Can you go into the Audirvāna settings and in the My Account section? You will see a ‘Start Log Session’ button; click on it and reproduce your issue. After you reproduce it, click 'Stop Log Session’ and send me the audirvana_studio.log file you can find by clicking the 'Open Log Folder’ button you will need to send it to me at support@audirvana.com
