New laptop question

Hi need help here… My old macbook the hard drive got damaged. : ( So I was not able to un authorize my Audirvana Origin app there. So i’m putting in my license key on the new Macbook. Its asking me to uninstall the old one first which is noot working anymore. What do I do?

Do you have a bootable back-up with Audirvāna installed? If so, uninstall it from the back-up…

Thanks got it to work… But now I can’t adjust the volume on my macbook pro using the audirvana app. I can only adjust the volume on my integrated amp. What do i need to do?

Enable software volume control… However, leave SW volume control OFF for best audio performance and use the volume control of your amp…

I suggest lowering your playback pre-load memory allocation to 4GB…

No the slider is up to 15360 MB that is 15.3 GIGAbytes. Assuming you have a Mac with 16GB RAM there is hardly any memory left for your OS and other tasks.

ok I’ve got 1tb and 16g of ram. What mb should I slide it down to?

Slide it between 4000-5000 (4 - 5 Gigabyte) that should be sufficient.

ok hopefully the last question on this topic… by doing this does it affect the sound quality? or is it just a pre loading thing only?

It does not affect the sound quality when you don’t set it too high. It only determines how much memory will be used to pre-load a track in RAM.

Of course if it is set to high (as in your original 15 GB settings) then it could affect the sound quality in a negative way (hickups, pops, ticks, stutter, pauses etc.) because your computer can run out of memory and then has to swap memory to your internal SSD.

In this case with the recommended settings (4-5 GB) you are fine.
