Origin on Synology NAS

I’m still trying to wrap my head around the concept of running Audirvana on my NAS… What is the output from the NAS to my stereo? I have USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports, but “intended for external storage”. And of course I have Ethernet…

Hi @bnbayer, most likely your NAS would talk to your stereo via UPnP or Google Cast … you would need something like a WiiM Mini (UPnP) or WiiM Pro (Google Cast) connected to your stereo.

Note that getting Audirvana running on yoru NAS is a bit trickier than running it on a Mac or PC.

What I’m asking is the PHYSICAL connector/port: USB? Ethernet? What does Audirvana output from my NAS? How does it transfer that output to the next piece in the chain? Previous versions of Audirvana (I’ve been a user since 2013) output via USB. Is this the same?

You cannot use the USB connectors on the Synology for music playback. UPnP is the way to go, meaning through ethernet and your receiving device should support UPnP.
