My platform is a MacBook Air M4. When I play a dsf/dsd album on it through Audirvana Studio, there is a noticeable “pop” between tracks. Has anyone else experienced this? Has anyone found a fix for it?
Welcome…
Please paste your debug information report here so folks can see the synergy of the computer platform and Audirvāna… You can find it here…
This article will provide insight into the conditions that precipitate this noise…
Adding sample-rate change latency and muting during sample-rate changes in the Audirvāna settings, is the best you can do… however, other computer platform/system related elements can play into this noise, like the amount of System RAM available vs playback pre-load memory allocation, this relationship is important in all aspects of the playback experience and the performance of the Audirvāna audio-engine and DSP.

Are you using the Bathys on Bluetooth? Because the debug report is showing it capable to 32 bit/44.1kHz when the specification for USB DAC mode capability is 24 bit/192kHz… the Focal Bathys do not support DSD playback… To playback DSD files, you will need to configure Audirvāna to ‘covert to PCM’.

You are using 13.3GB of your 16GB of System RAM for playback pre-load memory… I suggest lowering the pre-load memory allocation to 4GB to 6GB… In general, more System RAM available for processing is better for overall performance… It is a balance that will depend on your playback strategy…
I was using blue tooth headphones at the time I took the debug readings, but the pop also
occurs with wired headphones connected directly to my Mac and with a USB connection to a Hugo tt2 dac/amp. I will try your suggested changes.
Hi @fsasya,
Can you please take a look at the note at the end of this article?
