Why I cannot play 24 bit 96khz files. Audirvana plays the song. But no sound is output. For the same set up iTunes has no issue with output

Did you enabled USB Class 2 on your dac?

Sorry, the model of my dac is Dac Magic (older version) I am not sure if there is such a setting on this model
On page 14 the instructions to set USB Class 2 for the Dac Magic 100
The model is just dac magic , precursor to these models
… no chance to find a user manual …

I could find a review of the “original” DacMagic here https://www.stereophile.com/content/cambridge-audio-azur-dacmagic-da-converter-specifications
and it seems it can accept on usb just 44.1 and 48 (I suppose 16 bits)

how do I switch this? the upsampling selection in aurivarna is not selectable
To change this setting you need to stop your audio playback in Audirvana. Can you do it and try to change your upsampling settings?
stopped playback. still not selectable
ok. managed to deactivate and it plays. so the question is why is this an issue?
