Re Scan

So… here we are again !
I’ve searched the forum - but did not really find an answer

so…I noticed some Metadata errors…

I had a triple CD listed a 3 albums , not a Album with 3 CDs

This was correct in Roon - SO I locate the Album in my collection and put it into Metadatics - my goto on the Mac for editing the metadata , I corrected the data and its now 1 Album with 3 CDs - but is still showing as 3 albums in AV. I have re scanned the folder - but still the same

I have looked into changing the Metadata in AV but could not find a " Merge " type function that Roon has, nor by selecting " INFO " there was no option to change the CD numbers

any ideas ?

Thanks

There is no merge option like in Roon. To merge albums go to the 1st CD, select the first track then use shift and down arrow to select all the songs in the album, then open the metadata editor, the meta data editor will then show boxes for track# x out of x and disc# x out of x. Change to disc 1 out of 3 then save

Repeat changing disc number for each of the CD’s then bingo, should be good to go. Works for me.

So, since I was amending the Metadata in another app - re scanning in AV and the Metad had not changed , I un installed AV ( using app-cleaner ) and deleted the database from the user account. I re installed AV but my old albums were still there - was not expecting this, but I am running a re scan anyway to see if this amends any of the meta in AV

Your expectations seem to have been met with Roon.

If the playback sound-quality of Audirvana is secondary to convenience as your primary criteria for a digital-audio player and/or ‘perfection’ is your goal, you will always be disappointed, as “perfection is the enemy of the good”… There are user scenarios and operational behavior that may or may not be improved upon in Audirvana without impinging on the inherent sound-quality performance… This seems to be one particular operational anomaly that may be improved upon… However, this does not have influence on the sound-quality of the audio-engine… Given this reality, in the case of Audirvana, the sound-quality is the foundational rationale for the majority of users… I am one of them. Usability is important, however for the majority of discerning audiophiles, playback sound-quality is the prime criteria as long as the playback mechanism is functionally adequate… This is not to say that the system can’t be improved… I see the Audirvana team working to make the player/system rather transparent to the user experience… Everything in time… however, any improvements or changes that have negative impact on the sound-quality of the audio-engine is contrary to the fundamental premise that Damien and the team at Audirvana hang their hat upon. The behavior that you are experiencing is something that many have been experiencing and you will get as much attention and support that folks here on the Community Forum as possible… Your voice is important, however if sound-quality is a secondary criteria for you… Well

hi Agoldnear
Many thanks for your well thought out reply. I do agree with all that you have said. I’m impressed with the audio quality processing of AV. I also like the lay out - I especially like the folder option way of using the interface. I wasn’t expecting the crashes and app errors that I got when I initially installed and program as I thought I had all the bases covered as far as the machine was going. But I’m willing to learn. I have some trial time left to test drive the new car so to speak, so I will continue with the trial ( need to explore playlists etc ) . I always thought that my Metadata was in good order and well maintained - Using Metaadatics on the Mac to pre check all the data before I transfer.

I was also impressed with the forum and how helpful some of the members have been.

I may ask some questions from time to time

Thanks

Ray

I have my I Mac Studio connected via USB C to USPDIF ( in and out ) going to a Behringer Ultimatch Pro DAC which is then connected to a SONY TAes700 Amp
