Also, you only send the now playing metadata when you start playing music, and the developers that implement it know exactly what and when it would be sending to Discord.
There would be no privacy risks.
Additionally, there would be no ‘bloat’ slowdown and basically no size increase. It would be doing nothing if you do not enable it.
Data is my occupation. There’s no such thing as a free lunch and the business model of discord is? I have seen too much on the business side to trust any online service.
Audirvana would be implementing the feature and control what metadata is sent.
Just dont enable it.
Being a sceptic without understanding the software is counterproductive
Also, what are you losing in Discord knowing your music listening habits? How could that be used negatively?
Some data can be used against people that allow ads and are susceptible with low self control.
But I dont watch ads, and I research extensively before making a purchase.
Have my Data
And if youre somehow worried they will decipher your 100% unique personality and hack your mainframe.
We’ve got modern personality systems that are able to match people from personality traits well enough that people look the same.
We arent that special
What are you scared of
I know what data is traded and what privacy problems are involved. As I said , it’s my job . Listening habits are less harmless if you know how much data you scatter around the web can be aggregated into profiles. You’d be surprised, but there are 5 data providers in the world who trade your profile and who know more about you than your therapist if you would have one.
I don’t use Discord, at least not yet. And don’t want to be offtopic but can’t resist posting this. I’m not a “big man” and probabily will never be, as most of the people. So why should I care if they know things about me? I don’t have values and since I have a bank account, a social card, a phone and many other things there will be always people knowing (not very interesting) things about me. But I really don’t care, prefer to live my life wich will have an end sooner or later. Just my 2 cents.
