Should I step over to studio?

Does any player send signals to the Hegel via UPnP? If not, it’s time to suspect the Hegel firmware implementation, especially if your Ethernet network connection to the internet, etc, is functional with this MBP.

Dear All,

It looks like the issue is solved. Hegel visible in LAN as output source. No sys optimiser install request. Knock on wood.

Thx @Antoine

 unfortunately (again) no amplifier/dac in processing window. Support is notified.

What was changed when you were able to see the Hegel on your network?

@Agoldnear

Sorry for my late reply,
I have no idea what Antoine did but suddenly the amp was visible and selectable.

Unfortunately, a few days later it was impossible to connect with amp, up till now no connection and no music anymore…I am waiting for a solution from Support to continue my trial period…

For now I stopped trying every day to connect.

Well, as there hasn’t been an update recently, I doubt Antoine has actually done anything
Did you retstart any of your hardware, router included?

EDIT

A few DAYS, or a few MINUTES later?

We are now at a point where you need to connect your Hegel via USB and tell us if you can play files or not… If you can play files via USB then you have a baseline reference from which to trouble-shoot your network configuration/topology.

Hi

I will probably try today with usb instead of a network connection.

USB connection works flawless.
But sound is horrible.
Connected network cable again and yes visible in output frame!

Can a lan connector improperly be connected?

What does this mean?
There is more going on with your system configuration than is being described in your responses… A USB connection should not sound “horrible”… I suggest it is time for you to contact Hegel about your problems…

Perhaps your system is being affected by electronics and mechanical system design, power-ground/earthing related influences, if not savvy about these potentials…

If you cannot get excellent sound from the USB connection, this again speaks to a level of ineptness in either the device design or user application… It is possible the Hegel is having problems, however I sense a level of inexperience in audio and video system design and macOS Audio and Video set-up is at play. A USB connection should be as short as possible via a good Super-Speed USB 2.0 cable…worse-case no more than two-meters in length via a very good USB cable.

Your system power/ground/earthing should share a common circuit from a single socket from the wall outlet… This circuit should be free of any other non-audio and video devices such as lights, fans, motors, heaters, etc…. This mitigates ground/earthing differentials that will play havoc on your audio and video components and the quality of their performance.
Note: there is no guarantee that the sockets on a wall outlet share a common circuit… avoid using more than one socket from a wall outlet, unless you are sure they share a common power/ground/earthing circuit.

Please paste your debug information that reflects your USB connection and a screen-shot of your settings window(s).

Okay you are right

Horribele is overcharged. It sounds less open than the lan /network connection. I use a simple /cheap usb connection of 3 meters in lengte (9 ft )

Hi Pieter, maybe it is wise that you post your latest debug info. I know you did this earlier , but maybe after your session with Antoine something was changed. The forum members with knowledge of this maybe can help you in the right direction.

If it is a new cable, the contacts may need to be inserted multiple times in-order for the contacts to seat properly… If it is old, the contacts may have conformed to the shape of the contacts in the jack that it had been seated-in over a long period of time…

Perhaps you should put the Hegel on a static IP address.

While studio does not “see” my amp, network does!
Cable is supra cat8 and 2 years old.
Ip adress of amp and MacBook are fixed.
UPnP is marked :white_check_mark: in the checkbox of the router.

Support Said it is a software issue in studio.
Gues I have wait patiently for an update.

Why is the MacBook on a static IP address…?
It must be able to communicate via DHCP to both the LAN connected devices and the WAN… Yes? (My network configuration chops are rusty) … If the two devices are on static IP addresses, how can the MacBook find the IP address of the Hegel without it being manually entered or visa-versa? … It would seem that if it is related to Audirvāna operations, then we would see many users having a similar problem with any given DAC…

Dear All, Yesterday Support took over my pc in an effort to solve the issue, it may be clear now what it is, but time will tell, the ethernet adapter. (black one in the picture, ordered a new one of better quality on advice of Audirvana support).

Thx everyone for your help efforts.
