Smart Playlist query

I’ve always struggled a bit with getting Smart Playlists to work for me, and I’m not even sure quite why.

I want to make a Smart Playlist of all tracks over 50 minutes in length (i.e., they will all be d.j. mixes that I want in one playlist). But every time I try to create a Smart Playlist, it offers me no filter options that include “length” as in track length in minutes or seconds.

I feel pretty stupid and I’m sure I must have missed something simple, but could anyone please explain what I need to do to achieve my aim?

What happens to me right now? - I click on Create Smart Playlist and I get the playlist window. I click to select filters for it and there is no option for track length, moreover whatever I select I just get “0 options”. I must be missing the whole thing here, but how?

When the smart playlist is first created, I would expect it to include every track in my library (since no filters have yet been selected), but the smart playlist appears with 0 tracks in it…

Hey @bdbtbb This should be a simple set up for you. Please see the screenshot.

Open Playlist Editor
Click new Smart Playlist
Name the Playlist
Add Criteria / Duration / is greater than / 5000 (this equates to 50:00 Mins)
Make sure “Any Criteria is True”
and as that is your only criteria, you should see all tracks over 50 mins.

Good luck.

Thank you for the patient explanation! I did get this to work. What was happening to me before was that I would click on smart playlist, but when I named the playlist and pressed enter, it reverted to a standard playlist. However, if I name the playlist and then mouse-click away from the input field, the smart playlist is created correctly.
