Sms200 ultra / brooklyn+ occasional white noise distortion

Hello ,

there is a serious issue streaming qobuz/tidal upnp with audirvana. Upon first seconds of buffering / loading a track (not mqa) , there is some chance that mytek will suddenly play white noise distorion very loudly , puting my speakers / ears into danger. Happens not very often but 1-2 times a day is enough.
No other upnp software causes that.

I am on windows trial period and like this software but this issue keeping me from buying it.

Hello, I faced the same thing a while ago . This happened at the time of an upgrade from A3.0 to Audirvana 3.5. I was playing with the upsampling features, trying different setups.
I think this was due to a specific sampling rate. I have ended up with a setup which works fine by now for my DAC, and it never happened again. But it is frustrating no to know what actually happened …

Hi,
I have exactly the same issue when streaming tidal/quobuz.
It only happens once or twice a day, but the noise is so loud and distorted, that I am afraid my speakers could be damaged.
At first I thought that activation upsampling could have caused the problem.
But also the deactivation of upsampling (and Audio units) was not successful.
Fearing that the problem could recur, I now hardly dare to use Audirvana.
Does anyone have an idea how to solve the issue ?
I would be very grateful for any help.

Hello @urobauer, can you download an Audio Unit EQ lile SonEQ (it’s a free EQ) and turn all settings of buttons to the left for low mid and high in the EQ?

At the moment, everything works fine.
I will observe the further course and then report.
Can I reactivate upsampling x 2 now ?

You can try with upsampling, feel free to ask the manufacturer of your DAC to know why you have to use an EQ to listen to your music.

I’m having this same problem since I started using my PS Audio Direcstream dac connected to a sMS-200ultra network player. Before that I used to connect the dac directly to my MacBook Pro I didn’t have this problem. I’m using the latest Audirvana version without upsampling or filter.

Can anyone kindly share their “MPD buffer config” values here so I could compare them with mine?
