Sort by "Audio File Location" does not work

As per title,

I’m trying to sort Tracks from DSD iso files, since the iso file name is used as Audio File Location I was trying to have disc1, disc2 and sometimes disc3 properly sorted but it does not work.

Please see attached photos for details

Adurvinana is

I’m afraid that file location refers to the iso … then could be impossible to obtain what you’re looking for
You could use iso2dsd to unpack your iso files in discrete dsf files
https://www.sonore.us/iso2dsd.html

It does not work with folder too, from a programming point of view the Audio File Location is just a String like the Album title or track name, so to sort it it’s not any different that other fields. Honestly this are the things that make me disappointed about this paid software, it looks and behave much more like a freeware or hobby made. It’s full of glitches like this that completely ruin the user experience.

It could be but … my opinion is that the best experience you can have is to browse your library by tags, and Audirvana was born with this criteria in mind.
My library is very huge, more than 11k albums, and it would be impossible to find anything browsing by folders. Using tags and the filters feature instead it is very easy, I can find everything searching by Artist, Composer, Orchestra, Work, Genre … even by recording date or instrument.
I do realize that tagging is a “tedious” task but the benefits are really huge.
Browsing by folders is a sort of “last chance” workaround …

I respect any opinion  , no doubt about tag benefits, but honestly spend more time to tag the library than to listen at it it’s not my priority, I’m a programmer and I know that putting a little extra effort to allow more sort criteria can help the user to have a much better experience.

In this case the issue is that an available feature is not working, so it’s there but not working.

Anyway thanks for the support.

Ciao!

Hello @puccet,

Can you send me a copy of the “Debug Info”? You can get it in Audirvana Settings>General>Debug Info

Thank you for the debug info. The picture you posted have been made when you have selected an album, can you take a look at the Track section when you are in Library and look at the metadata of the tracks on top of it?

I have the same problem (which I made another thread about). I don’t have a fix, but I have a workaround.

What I found is that if you go into System Preferences and set the Local Library Track sort options there (and you can drag the drop-downs around as needed) to put File Location at the top, then go back into track view, it works as expected…

…until you click on any of the column headers or any other sort option. If you, say, sort by Artist, it will work, but then it will not go back to sorting by File Location. You have to go back into preferences, rearrange the sorting list (which may scroll and be hard to see - it does on mine), and then go back to the Track view and it will be sorted by File Location again.

Sorry for the late reply, I’ve now converted all my iso in dsf format, much more usable, I can now set an album artwork and edit the metadata, anyway thanks for the support.
