Sort Issues

I had some time on my hands, so I thought I’d update some of the Metadata on files in my library using the software META (Apple). Only basic data such as “Release Time”, “Media Type” etc.
Then something crazy started to happen…
Example:
I was editing the Diana Krall audio in my Hi-Res folder. All seemed to update properly until the last one and then she disappeared completely from the ARTISTS list.
If I do a general search, all her music is visible. But in the categories “ARTISTS” or “Hi-Res”, she’s gone.
This happened when I altered the Metadata of my David Bowie stuff as well.
Yet, this has not happened on everything. The Depeche Mode music is fine.
Any ideas??

Also…
Why does the “ARTIST” menu have a Filter and the “ALBUM” or “Hi-Res” menu’s don’t?
These latter 2 menu’s also have additional “Sorting Criterias” were the "ARTIST menu doesn’t.

Hi @Ric1,

Can you please send a screenshot of David Bowie’s metadata?

Here is how to do this:

Would you like me to post it here or email?

You can post it here

I took snapshots of 2 Bowie albums. They are both Hi-Res.
The first is the only one remaining in the “Hi-Res” list.
The second is one that was visible when I did a general “search”.

Let me know if this is what you are looking for.

I worked as a recording engineer before and during the birth of digital audio, so I have a pretty good understanding of metadata. I just wish there was a Standard that everyone could follow.
For example: Your “Label” ID is listed as “Publishing” in the META software.

I’m sorry my initial post was unclear. Can you go to the David Bowie artist page and send a screenshot of its metadata?

That’s where the problem was.
“Sort As” had the wrong information (not sure how)
Once I corrected it, all his albums are now visible in the other lists.
Diana Krall had the same wrong entry. (it had Label info??)
Thanks Antoine

Ok, regarding the album Black Tie and Noise, can you please send me an email at [email protected]? I will need your audirvana database file to see what’s wrong there.

Everything sorts properly now when I correct the Artists “Sort As”. Not sure how that changed while editing non-related metadata. So I think you’ve solved this issue. Thanks
