Sort Order - Album Artists

Anyone else having problems with the sort order of album artists?
This is from my NUC AS install:

This is from my laptop AS install:

My entire library appears to be sorted correctly, up to Zwan. After that there appears to be artists (not all my albums btw ) not occuring in the correct alphabetical order.
Both installs are looking at the same file library, local on my NUC and remote to my laptop.

Mine is a disaster too Besides the artist are out of order some artists just simply vanish

Soooo Audirvana had done well from beginning up to about 500 albums in the album view. Since then it dumps new albums where it wants to, often the top 30 albums. The order of the troubled section goes from artist “A” to artist “S” to artist “Z” to artist “P” to artist “S”, then it resumes to artists “A”. Audirvana decides on its own whether to list an artist by last name or first.

Another thing is my Audirvana Studio does not populate the LOCAL > ARTISTS view. I stared at a blank screen for 15 minutes before deciding it does not work for me. In addition, the TRACKS view scrolls from beginning to end in about 2 wheel scrolls.

Please correct these issues as I have enjoyed using AS very much. Thank you.

There is a separate “sort” field in album metadata view.

Thanks for your reply.

I’ve tried using sort criteria 1) ALBUM ARTIST; 2) YEAR. Did not work. The closest I can get to what I want is 1) AUDIO FILE LOCATION; 2) YEAR. Everything was in order except the Albums were not displaying chronologically. As far as artists’ names, I labeled the data folders by LAST NAME, FIRST NAME of artists’ names (e.g., Joel, Billy - Rolling Stones, The). This is not reflected in the Album View. Names were supplied from the Metatagging in iTunes. So I’d like to see the “Sort Local Library Albums” by ARTIST, then YEAR.

I also have problems with sorting some artists. I checked the tags and everything seems to be fine. For instance, albums by “Queen” are placed under the A and so do albums by “Red Hot Chili Peppers”

Honestly, I don’t know why this is happening, but I solved it by adding a blank space to the name of the group → "Queen " and "Red Hot Chili Peppers "

This is not an ideal situation, but at least it works. I haven’t checked Audirvana 3.5. I hope nothing is changed there as a result of my solution!

If i remember. Click that album dont select anything, show info window, you’ll see it as a sort of field as: artist the, that is why filled under A

Or click that artist in artist view and show info… sort as is wrong not Queen…,

At the job right now cant check

Thanks

I checked the info window and it said “Queen”, so I don’t know why Audirvana thought it belonged under A . As I said, adding a blank space at the end solved it, but it’s a solution I’m not happy with. Well, maybe it’s a bug. I hope Damien sorts it out soon.

Try artist view… where they are in A, click that artist, it should be Queen and sort as Artist the

have so many posts, can’t find all of them

here is one exemple i posted at the beginning when i found that musicbrain tags were added to my Artist… this exemple is that it add other artist in my only one Artist tag… it put a grouping info field, that miss placed my D - Dave Brubeck in this exemple

Yours, can be find in Artist view or Tracks view like in my last picture… They always go where i put the red line… like a new group called Artist the… for me they always go between Arthur Brown and Ash Ra Temple… easy to spot now  they have the right artist name that i put, but for some reason after Analyzing thing file was passed on MusicBrain, it as add Artist the in Sorting Field… Now they are all repaired in my database.

If i remember, i couldn’t even change that sorting as field named: Artist the
i had to click that album in Artist view and getting the Info Panel to add the real name
or remove the Artist The… i forgot now  i don’t know yet if it as been repaired now in Studio 1.6.1

Thanks a lot for taking the time to answer back

I have changed the tags so many times I think I’m going to leave it the way it is now, just in case everything gets wrong again.

Unfortunately as of today this bug has now also affected me! I didn’t change anything, all the tags are spot on as they should be, no empty spaces before or behind the Artists name……
Also AS randomly decides which artists to mix up. I usually update artist files in batches, some landed in correct alphabetical order, these 4 artists didn’t.
Delating the files, re-adding them independently and also onto a different hard drive didn’t make any difference. What a pity……

The sorting of artists sucked for me also during the trial. Not only in artist view. Also in album and tracks view.

just look at what i wrote 2 posts earlier… jut put your view on tracks view…
scroll to last Art Pepper album or before Arve Henriksen… those wrong will always be sorted between those 2 artists for you…
Me as in my picture they go always between Arthur Brown and Ash Ra temple, because they are sorted not knowing why, as Artist The, so they go between Artists named art… and ars…

in the info panel they will have other artist tag that were added by the musicbrain thing… i think, not by me for sure.

So, just select all songs of that album, put info panel and remove those new artist name added and save… they will go in their place after. you just have 4 to do… lucky you

Thanks for the feedback guys…
Unfortunately RunHomeSlow your suggestions couldn’t help me as I deactivated MusicBrain tagging during the initial set up and the 4 albums were immediately sorted alphabetically wrong!
As you can see from my screenshots the Artists Name is as I would like it, nothing has been added. Hopefully Damian has this problem on his radar and that a fix is one day there.

ok then go in artist view…
click one of the faulty album, don’t select anything and see info panel…
it should have the good artist name, then under sort as… Artist The

Yep, that did it:-)
As you can see from the screen shot, under sort as is “Artist the”. One just has to copy and paste the Artist Name into the “sort as” field, close the info field and save the changes when prompted !!
Thank you ever so much for the help, very much appreciated .

I was able to solve the “Artist the” problem and the artists I had disorganized are organized correctly in Artist mode. The problem is with Albums view :disappointed:

The artist were Queen, U2 and Travis. They are completely disorganized in Album view. They are between artists “AR-” and “AS-” completely messed up. Please, see pictures.

Can you go in the artist view, select Queen and open the metadata editor and send a screenshot of what you see? Can you do the same for U2 and Travis?
