I have my music files stored on two different external drives; let’s call them ‘A’ and ‘B’. In the default library view, all the tracks from both drives are shown together. Can I create two views so that I can toggle between seeing the contents of ‘A’ in one view and the contents of ‘B’ in another view.
Yes you can…
You can use the Folder View icon that already exist in Audirvana…
like in my picture i have also two external hard drives for my music.
Or, you can create Smart Playlists for your hard drives, that will be automatically updated when you put a file in either of them…
How do I get that Window (showing Library < File Edit View Play Window)?
You surely open Audirvana in full screen mode, that hide the computer menu
When I open AS in full screen mode, I don’t see that window at all (Windows 10). This is what I see:
Even though I have used 3.5, AO, and AS, I have never seen that window with ‘File Edit View History’ and so forth, nor can I right-click anywhere AUDIRVANA is written. How do I locate it?
Hi @RunHomeSlow and @rafs, the right click on the title bar does not work in the Windows version. But you still should see the icon for the playlist editor. Below is a screenshot of my Windows version:
As said… does not work in the Windows version. Probably only on the Mac
Bit strange, because those menu’s are standard in Windows too. Also the best practices guide for Windows programming mandates the inclusion of (standard) menu’s. One would expect that Audirvana would adhere to OS standards/best practices for both OS’s…
man! basic menu missing, funny
So, back to the original question then, how do I display the contents of external drive A and external drive B in separate windows/library views?
Turn the arrows for each there
go up in the main window and click icon and decide to see as albums or tracks view
Re read my smart playlists answer…
My left hand sidebar in Windows says Local rather than Library, but just as in MacOS, next to the title on the right is the small folder icon with an eye in it. Mouse over and it will say Folder View. Click and it will show a directory of folders on the left.
This is what I have tried. First, I synced external drive ‘A’ into AS Then I set that up as a playlist. So, good. … a smart playlist for ‘A’. Now what can I do when I sync contents of drive ‘B’? That will show up as ‘Recently Added’ (smart playlist). OK now I have two separate playlists: A and B. But, problem is, any new syncs from A OR B will also be added to ‘Recently Added.’ Still a bit confused here.
Jud: Thanks…I can see the folder that I have synced (‘A’) so I am assuming that ‘B’ will show up there when I sync it.
RunHomeSlow: yes, as mentioned, in Windows you don’t get that view
Yes, and since B is a separate directory/drive from A, the contents of A will be shown separately from the contents of B in Folder View. Just as in Windows Explorer, you can expand/collapse any directory.
