Switch away from MQA and CD res files are distorted

Hello

If I play MQA Tidal tracks through Audivarna into my MQA DAC, it sings beautifully. When I choose a track that isn’t MQA through Tidal, it distorts badly, when I go back to a MQA track it’s good again. Any ideas?

When I use the Tidal interface rather than Audivarna I have no issues at all!

Next question, if I may? The remote on my phone doesn’t always sync up with my pc. They are both on the same network, sometimes it kicks straight in other times my phone says no computer recognised.

Can you check the procedure bellow?

For Windows 10 users, check your connection property: In Settings > Network & Internet > Check connection properties, make sure your Network profile is set to Private.

Check the firewall settings: In Settings > Update and Security > Windows Security > Firewall and Network Protection > Allow an application via a firewall, make sure that the file audirvanaplus.exe is allowed to access the network.

Restart your WiFi router because it may have a problem transmitting the connection used by Audirvana Remote (Like the Apple Remote app that controls iTunes, which can be blocked for the same reasons)

I have the very same problem. HiBy R3PRO connected as UAB DAC, non MQA files streamed from Tidal are distorted, seems they are playing and triple of the speed… MQA files playing good. When using the Tidal app instead Audirvana, no problem arrises whatsoever, MQA and non MQA tracks streamem correctly- Attaching my debug info.

Can you activate upsampling in the audio output settings (you need to click on > next to your device name in the audio output selection) and set it to Device maximum frequency?

Well setting up upsampling leads to no distortion on Tidal non-MQA files. However, this is not really a solution as nobody wants to force source upsampling and losing quality thereby, and that setting is global for all DACs connected. As said Tidal app is having no problem with the very same DAC setup, so your suggestion can hardly be accepted as solution for the problem, it is only a temporary workaround.

Have you tried to invert polarity?

Yes I did, I have tried probably most of the suggestions from other threads, but it didn’t help…

Can you try with a different computer?

I did indeed, same situation on my MacBook running the same Audirvana version…

Did you try to switch on/off exclusive access and integer mode?

Hi there, finally got to test it. Integer mode did the job. I have switched it off and disabled upsampling. Now all tracks are playing fine, Tidal or local, mqa or not, across all my DACs. Thanks a lot for the suggestion.
