Track Ends Prematurely

Hi. Occasionally playback stops just a few seconds before the end of a track and not continuing to the next track.

Looks like it has something to do with the audio buffer/cache? I dunno. See screenshot below. Notice the gap in the buffered content at the end, resulting in the sudden playback stop.

I don’t use any plug-ins. All tracks are local music on my external Drobo Thunderbolt storage.

macOS Catalina 10.15.7 (19H2026)
Audirvana Origin v2.2.2.

EDIT - 28th December:
I’m also using Boom3D (a system-wide audio enhancement app).

Are you by any chance playing through DLNA ? If that’s the case, we’re many to experience track cutting a few seconds before the end (or not playing the next track in queue). There are many topics open about this issue.
It seems that using FLAC instead of ALAC might improve this behaviour, but we’re still wondering what’s going on and how (whether) it can be solved.

Hello. Thank you for the reply.

I don’t believe I’m playing through DLNA. I’m just playing off my external Drobo 5D through a wired Thunderbolt connection. And most of the tracks I have experienced the issue with are MP3s, so I doubt FLAC/ALAC has anything to do with it in my case.

One thing I forgot to mention is that I have Boom 3D (from Global Light Technologies) installed. It’s a system wide audio enhancement app for macOS. Audirvana uses it as the output device (as it’s supposed to), but I don’t see how that app causes this issue.

For clarity, here is how the Audio tab in Settings looks like:

For troubleshooting purpose, I’d suggest you try to output from your macOS standard audio, so we can try to see whether that Boom3D has any impact (it totally could).

I have no technology background so I can’t help you any further. I’d recommend you to provide the content of your debug info (Audirvana’s first menubar item) into a hidden text tag so the programmers (usually @Antoine ) can check.

Good luck !

Thank you. I’ll do what you suggested.

It’s possible that this app create issue with Audirvāna Studio as it is accessing to the CoreAudio of your Mac and do some modification to it. If you can try to a different output, do you still have the same behavior?

I have got the same problem. Using Ventura 13.0.1 Origin 2.2.2 and playback via my cambridge edge NQ connected via USB. If I play the same song direct from Apple Music it is ok.

Are there any updates on this problem. In 2.2.3 it is still the case and it is quite annoying .

Hi @artfis,

Sorry for the very late reply. Can you send a screenshot of your audio settings of Audirvāna Origin when you have this issue?

I presume you are using a Cambridge Audio device? Have you tried to enable the option “do not use RAW PCM stream” in the audio output settings of your device?

YEs I’m using a Cambridge Edge NQ network streamer and a Cambridge Edge W Amplifier. But I can’t find the option you suggested.

You need to click on the steering wheel next to your device name to see this option;

Out of interest, does this option only appear if Audirvana detects there could be a problem?

Nope, it’s an option always available when you select a UPnP device.

Ah, ok. So I wouldn’t see it on a USB connected device?

You won’t see it on a USB connected device

Thanks.

Thanks, Let you know if this solves the problem

That seem to solve this problem but creates another one. Sometimes it doesn’t play the music at all. It looks then if Audirvana is playing music (like the speaker in the cover and the || to pause the musci) but nothing happens at all
