»Unable to switch to integer mode« again :-(

This ridiculous error seems to stick me with forever :rage: :weary:

Had a look at the file audirvana_studio.log just now. Noticed the line

2024-10-11 17:03:32.589 [error]: VST new user location scan error C:\Users[user_name]\AppData\Local\Programs\Common\VST3: unable to enumerate files

near the end of it.

Why seems Audirvana try to look for VST3s at the wrong location?

Thanks for the link.

So there seems to be a »dedicated installation path« per definition, to store any VST3 files. For my machine this path is C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3, if I understand correctly – and that is where my relevant VST3 file is located.

So again:

Why seems Audirvana try to look for VST3s at the wrong location?

You may need to trash your preferences file… It appears that the file path was changed at some point and this path is the one memorized by Audirvana…

2024-10-11 17:03:32.589 [error]: VST new user location scan error

:notes: :eye: :headphones: :eye: :notes:

Understood. Do you happen to know name and location of that pref file, under Windows 11?

You can see your Audirvana Database file path here:
Settings–> Local–> Audirvana Database File Path

Note…I suggest saving this file to your desktop when you remove it so to keep it as a back-up if this does not work… there is little to no reason to change the path.

I am a macOS user, so hopefully a Windows user can provide more insight.
:notes: :eye: :headphones: :eye: :notes:

Well I can’t find any file at that location that could probably be the preference file …

This screen shot is from Audirvana Studio running on a macOS platform…

If you don’t see the Windows file path provided there in the ‘Local’ settings menu, I don’t know what to tell you…

:notes: :eye: :headphones: :eye: :notes:

Uhm … That is Audirvana’s database file, size nearly 100 MB in my case – not a preference file.

Does not a database contain pertinent data the application uses? (rhetorical)
:notes: :eye: :headphones: :eye: :notes:

in Windows the database path is in a hidden folder i think.
To show hidden files just type that in Google or see here…
then after, re-click hidden to hide them again

What do you think how I could know about the file size of my Audirvana database? :see_no_evil:

Seems I have to wait for Monday’s return of the pros.

100 mb is really low for a database… not many album,
mine is 3.6gb

I copied the relevant VST3 file to the »wrong« location (C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Programs\Common\VST3) and now the audirvana_studio.log no longer lists a new scan error message.

But – the problem »Unable to switch to integer mode« remains!!!

Can you send us a copy of the "Debug Info“ when you have this issue? You can get it in Audirvana Settings>My account.

Note: When you click on the Debug Info button, Audirvana automatically copies all its content. Please paste it in response to this message.

That problem is just the same as one year (!!!) ago … Here’s what I posted in October 2023:

»Kernel-Streaming« is my default setting, and when starting Audirvāna, I almost always get that »Unable to change to Integer Mode« message. What I usually do then is switching to »WASAPI«, start playback any song, stop that, and switch back to »Kernel-Streaming«. Which works from that moment on without any problems – as long as that given Audirvāna listening session may last.

What does MathAudio tell you about this behavior? They have very little support information regarding their plug-in, such as latest update revision, system compatibility, etc,… What happens when you use ASIO?

Can you tell me the SMSL device you use? We need the same device to know what is going on
