Upnp does not show my network or Rossini

HI, I have a new MBP and a DCS Rossini and a Synology NAS. Audrivana UpNp use to show my network? No more can’t connect my Rossini and although I also downloaded the app on my Synology NAS it won’t run, starts then stops running?

Do you have Audirvana installed now on both MacBook and Synology? How do you have your system set up?

I remember you saying something about being unfamiliar with Linux, so if you’re having any trouble, may as well make things easy on yourself and use Audirvana on the Mac (as long as it can see the Rossini).

Thanks, that’s actually my problem, I set it up on the Mac and still can’t see the Rossini. My frustrations that I was actually using Audrivana at times on my Mac with my Aerie. The ethernet was one of the selections for UpNp in the drop down. So the network set up is actually the same. Only change is the Rossini? So that’s when I also installed the app on the Synology. Now I can’t get either to work? The Mac is hard wired to the ethernet so I just don’t understand what is gong on or what I may be doing wrong?

Reboot your entire system/network.

Still no go. Interesting in that my Rossini with Mosaic which is UPnP works fine fulling my music files from MinimServer? I just would like to to have the Audirvana interface. I am struggling to understand why I can’t figure out why it worked on my Aperio but not DCS which is configured when Aperio was not set up for it in any way?

In my prior posts…I pointed to this proprietary relationship to Mosaic and MinimServer being a potential for interference, where DCS uses only part of the UPnP protocol in their proprietary control system… Time to contact DCS, however they only support MinimServer, so temper your expectations…

Hi @Anthonyd71, my number one suggestion is to reduce the number of variables. For example, set aside Audirvana on Synology and focus 100% effort on Audirvana on Mac (per @Jud).

I glanced through the Rossini user manual, and it is not entirely obvious to me how it acts as a UPnP endpoint. Reaching out DCS is a great idea (per @Agoldnear).

One question: do you have any other UPnP endpoints? If yes, do they appear in Audirvana? FWIW, I’ve found Audirvana very reliable in seeing UPnP (and Chromecast) endpoints.

Note that they only talk about their own app to control playback, which may indicate at least some degree of proprietary implementation. @Anthonyd71 did say Audirvana showed the Rossini before, though that doesn’t equal playback.

NO UPnP only airplay shows Rossini. I did have it show the netted and my Aperio properly in studio on the same Mac so Im stumped as to the Rossini?

Can you be more specific about ‘netted’ and ‘Aperio’? What are each of those … and where do they appear in Audirvana?

What does DCS say about UPnP implementation?
My guess is that DCS wants to have total control of the digital-audio signal flow over a network transmission scenario where signal-integrity is of upmost priority… AirPlay is a compromised transmission protocol and they probably see this as just a convenient background music source…

As I stated previously, Audirvāna Studio and the USB protocol facilitates a simple and elegant playback signal transmission to the DCS DAC architecture… Cut to the chase and get on with it… stop banging your head trying to monkey with a compromised UPnP protocol set-up if you wish to employ Audirvāna Studio in the context of the Rossini DAC. Otherwise what makes you think Mosaic and MinimServer is a compromise in the context of the DCS ecosystem?
