@Agoldnear I’m talking about “UPnP Endpoint on MacOS”, that’s the name of the thread, and it can be helpful for Audirvana users too, no ? It’s always interesting to see the different setups from different users, that gives me (and to the other, I hope…) new ideas to improve my setup.
Now I’m sorry if I’m not a client of Audirvana, but you shouldn’t call a kluge something that you don’t know… I’m a sound engineer, mixing movies since more than 20 years and I think I know a little what I am doing, even if of course I don’t have the prevention to know everything ![]()
@Jud if you’re interested in the end of my story, we can finish this discussion in private ![]()
@Jud is this feeding your ego…? Do you believe this kluge is aligned with the premise of Audirvāna and falls in line with the Audirvāna support agenda that this forum is designed to facilitate? How does this kluge support the general Audirvāna agenda? It is a complication that is not supported in any way by Audirvāna.

Hello,
I just come back to confirm : upmpdcli works. So it can be usable to setup a Mac as a upnp renderer (seen as a speaker by the clients) for Audirvana (or anything else
). If mpv is configured properly (auto sample rate change at every file playing), it can even be bit perfect. Thank again to everybody for your help and enjoy good music !
Just wanted to note for anyone checking the thread that mpv is not essential to have bit perfect reception of whatever Audirvāna sends to the UPnP renderer. Upmpdcli, along with its dependency mpd, will do that on its own, to whatever resolution you like.
So yes, if you happen to have, for example, a spare Mac Mini and want to use it as a DIY UPnP streamer with Audirvāna, you can.
Sorry, it was a typo : I was talking about MPD.
