Does anyone know if I can get a digital stream through theUSB C ports of a 2019 MBP to be fed into an external DAC, or do the newer MacBooks only allow the internal DACs to be used?
Thank you.
I have never had an issue with connecting a 2019 or more recent Macbook Pro to various DAC’s over the last 5 years via the Thunderbolt 3/USB C ports (Sony PHA1, Chord Mojo, Mojo 2, Hugo 2 or an Astell & Kern SP1000 in DAC mode). The thunderbolt ports are backwards compatible with the USB standard. You will just need a USB B cable to USB C (may be in the Topping box or if not can buy cheaply at most electronics stores) Each of the DAC/s have supported various USB interface standards all the way back to USB 2.0 and have not had issues connecting to the Macbook Pro.
