Hi, I have a MBP , time cap, and DCS Rossini. Im looking for the best way toan I use my apple time capsule , set up a Nas? what’s the benefit from using something other than studio etc? I also have a Synology 224+?
Studio is the full fat version - Origin is the same but for local files only so no Qobuz etc streaming.
Don’t understand what you want to do with an Apple Time Capsule as surely thats solely for TimeMachine backups.
You choice depends on where you store your music (RIPs, downloads etc) and whether you want to be able to stream from subscription services like Tidal and Qobuz and have Internet radio.

If I were you I’d install the Mac version on the MBP and the headless Linux on your Synology NAS.
Then you can compare the two.
It’s hard for us to say what’s the better option as it is your setup.
I have SSD storage with my rips. I have music on time cap ( which I understand can also be used as just storage) I also have Roon. I also just bought a Synology DM 224+ which I am thinking about using MinimServer DCS with Rossini and Mosaic. Like most I’m after the best sound so I am looking at settling on one choice and getting rid of the rest. Inquiries suggest Minimserver on a nas with DCS is optional. I do streaming with Qobuz but mainly use my own ripped library and physical CD’s as I have the Rossini Player. I admit Im a bit confused. I had a Innuos switch and it convinced me that Roon (which would be the easiest) with my Nucleus sounds vailed compared so I rather not use Roon.I feel Audrivana is better sounding so Im trying to decide its best implementation? Studio has the richest feature set and configuration capabilities…
A well designed and managed, very short USB protocol connection to your DAC will provide you with the highest level of signal integrity that Audirvāna provides, given your MBP is configured such that it supports the audio-engine operations with adequate System RAM, where your music library is attached locally (but not residing on your System drive)… A transmission path from the library drive, that is short and free of non-audio electronics (routers, switches, hub, etc) will reduce/mitigate transmission latency, which will precipitate noise on the data stream and contribute to accumulated jitter… Food for thought regarding getting the ultimate performance and the ultimate digital-audio signal integrity Audirvāna provides to the output bus… You will never see in electronics design, longer circuit path lengths than those that can serve the platform topology efficiently…The best data-path is the shortest one in all considerations and aspects of a digital-audio playback system topology design.
thx
I finally received my Rossini today. I would like to set Audrivana up . I currently am using the studio version but for some reason the UpNp don’t show my Rossini? I don’t mind using the gas version as I am mostly interested in my music files and not the streaming so much. Whichever I can get to work and sounds better etc? THX
Studio or Origin should not make a difference in the showing of your dCS.
Best to post your debug info here, so devs and forum members can try to identify. Most of the times this is related to settings in the computer or network.
As above - details of your network connections might help. David
You can find what we ask here in Audirvāna: Settings → My Account → Help → Debug info
Probably the local network access problem with MacOS. Search th3 forum for the solution.
If your OS on the Mac is updated to Sequoia, go to your Mac settings, Privacy & Security, and make sure Audirvana is permitted to access the local network.
Roon has a similar issue. Which seems to have been fixed for most people with the latest version of MacOS Sequoia (15.3). But your advice should work.
Well at least even if it doesn’t, it’s one possibility eliminated.
