In fact, I haven’t taken some time to look at the problem as I don’t really use Windows Server anymore with Audirvana.
But after some investigations I’ve successfully started Audirvana 2.8.4 on Windows Server 2002 with GUI. Note that it will nerver work with Core versions of Windows Server.
I neither know if it can work on Windows Server 2019.
See the link below it could help you. https://4sysops.com/archives/install-winget-on-windows-server-and-activate-preview-features/
If you are using AO3.0 or 4.0 beta, Fidelizer Pro I advise you to disable them before any operation.
My Windows 2019 is GUI not core where both 2.8.3 & 2.8.4 able to install just won’t start. I remember without an app-installer, installation of AS was not permissible nevermind the won’t start after installation part.
I’ve just made a reminder to point out that it wasn’t working with core versions.
It wasn’t just according to your particular case, just a general info.
Have you tried the solution I have suggested?
It has worked for me as I’ve written in my previous message.
I haven’t updated my W10 Pro in about eighteen months as the machine has one purpose, to run Audirvana, 90% of tracks from local storage. I call it my server. Really hoping I do not have to update…
So is there any official from Audirvana or we have to solve the issues ourself as usual? Have no issue running Roon (many updates) or even Jplay Femto in the same W2019 GUI as of now.
It’s just due to the way Audirvāna must be installed using Appinstaller on Windows. I’ve asked (and I was not the only one) the possibility to install Audirvana with a setup.exe file like Roon and other players since Audirvāna is available for Windows but the answer has always been no.
It’s a pity.
Perhaps, we can hope that it might be possible now? Please Damien and Antoine.
The sole reason I subscribed to AS was its Kernal Streaming which in Win10/11 is not usable since I think 2.8.0 or near but W2019 no problem! Addressed the issue to Audirvan and they didn’t want to deal with it. Fine! The Win10 NUC is for background music so use Roon instead. Kernal Streaming still working in W2019 the main hifi server and it was the only reason I renewed another year in August but now this 2.8.3 and 2.8.4 issue. Audirvana please provide an official work around with proper instructions for this 2.8.3/4 issue or make a statement Windows Servers are officially not supported so we users can decide to continue to subscribe or leave. Thanks!
