24bit Hi-Res Files wont play if a 5.1 or 7.1 config is selected in Windows 10

I am having an issue where if I have my sound card configured to 5.1 or 7.1 in windows sound settings and then try to play a 24bit flac hi-res file in Audirvana it will not play. It appears the song will start to play but then the playback timer never starts and no audio is heard out of the speakers.

Oddly enough if Stereo or 3.1 is selected in the for the soundcard in windows 10 the audio will play as expected for these same 24bit files. I also noticed that if 5.1 or 7.1 is selected and a I play a 16bit music file it will play as intended. They issue seems to be with 24bit and the 5.1 and 7.1 configurations.

I have a intel NUC running via HDMI directly to my denon x3500H AVR. Its using the Intel Display Audio device in windows 10. I have also attached pictures to clarify exactly what I mean.

Can you send me a copy of the “Debug Info”? You can get it in Audirvana Settings>General>Debug Info

Note: By clicking on the Debug Info button, Audirvana automatically copies all its content, all you have to do is paste it in response to this message

If you don’t configure 5.1 or 7.1 in Windows and try to play a 5.1 track in audirvana, does it work?

Yes I mentioned in my original post it works and plays as expected if I select stereo or 3.1 as my config in windows 10.

It only occurs with 24bit files in 5.1 and 7.1. Strangely a 16bit file plays as normal.

thx for the help by the way

Are you using the latest firmware for your Denon?

Yes I am using the latest firmware. Just Checked. It seems software related because the timer for the song doesn’t start. It buffers up like it’s going to start but then the playback timer never starts.
