Apple M1 Max and Audirvana Studio 2.7.0

Good evening
I think I can say that the Audirvana Studio 2.7.0 version is definitely very slow, both during the startup phase and when exiting the application. I use a fairly powerful Mac Studio with 64 GB of RAM. I don’t seem to remember that in previous versions this delay was so evident and so I’m trying to understand if it’s just a temporary problem or if it’s slow without having any particular problems. Mac OS operating system is updated to the latest version 14.3.1

thank you all:-)

I am not seeing this myself. Do not notice any difference. When I open Audirvana it takes 2.15 seconds between clicking on the icon and the app being open and ready to play. Closing the app takes 1.25 seconds. Pretty normal for any “light” application on my Mac. I have an M3 Max MBP running macOS 14.3.1 and AS 2.7.0. Heavy applications (final cut pro, logic pro and creative cloud apps) can take longer. Seems to be no different to other versions of AS or other light apps on my mac.

My library is only 7600 tracks and although I subscribe to Qobuz I do not have massive amounts of favourites/playlists.

How long is your Studio taking? If significantly longer then may be an issue with your DB file or related to library size, or slow startup of external drives with your library etc etc etc?

Can’t think of any reason why that may be happening to you. Hopefully someone on the forum may have a better idea and you can get it sorted.

Like @Djm1960 I also have no problems at all with slowness at Startup or Shutdown (exit). Using MacBook Air M2 24GB RAM.

The only thing that takes a while to load after Startup is the information in the Qobuz Interface, however having said that any song from Qobuz sitting in the Play Queue can be played, and if I want i can just do a quick search on AV Studio for a Qobuz Album and click play and it will.

hey there, are running background apps? if yes try to close them all the see what app may cause this, if it’s not fixed by this, try a clean install of audirvana to see if can fix the issue.

Hi @M_Billy,

Can you send us a copy of the "Debug Info“ when you have this issue? You can get it in Audirvana Settings>My account.

Note: By clicking on the Debug Info button, Audirvana automatically copies all its content. All you have to do is paste it in response to this message

Good morning everyone,
I did some tests: when I open the application it launches in a few seconds, even closing it (without playing anything) is quick.
However, when the application is open, the time between when I press “play” and when playback starts is really long (about thirty seconds) and in this period of time a message appears: "I am optimizing the system for audio” once started, playback, pause and playback are instantaneous. After playing any song, closing the application still takes a very long time (thirty seconds or more).

My library is made up of around 1400 albums that reside on the Qobuz platform and another 800 high resolution albums that physically reside on my local library (Thunderbolt NVMe SSD disk)

I’ll follow up with the debug info

Do you have this behavior whether you are trying to play a Local or Qobuz track?

I’m still doing some tests

basically even directly from Qobuz the wait is decidedly long…

try to to copy some tracks on internal SSD and disconnect the external one, keep in mind USB DACs has this delay sometimes… when you using the internal Mac DAC I’m sure the music will start faster…

edit: I see now that you using studio monitor speaker so forget the part of USB dacs.

I didn’t quite understand what happened (with the optimization of the system) but now everything is finally back to normal, this time, both play and even closing the application are normal!!!

Thank you for your availability and your always very fast feeds:-)

From AS I have the possibility to choose the device with which to play the music, but regardless of this the problem did not change, now everything seems to be back to normal

Thank you

Pleasure to help as far as i can! Let’s hope the stability of your system keeps that way!

Would suggest that you reduce your memory down to 4-6 GB. I know that you have plenty on your Mac but that is hours and hours of buffered cache that you will probably never use.

Moderate amount of RAM seems to be the duck’s nuts for most users.

Glad that it is running well for you.
