AS 1.9, tidal, unable to open an audio file

I’ve recently reinstalled AS, a lot better than earlier iterations, no longer tiny and hollow.

I have it installed on a 2012 macmini (16gig), connected to Metrum Onyx™ via https://lnx.m2tech.biz/products/pens/hiface-two/ and https://www.eliteaudiouk.com/product-page/hidiamond-digital-reference-rca-cable-1m.

The problem that I am having is that I am randomly unable to stream tracks, getting message .‘unable to open an audio file’ (does an audiophile ever really open up, hehe, guest we’re all quite insoular, hehe). This is resolved by restarting AS or computer, but quickly returns. I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting tidal, but this has not resolved the issue. Any advice to help fix this problem is gratefully received?

First thing to try is reducing your buffer to 4000mb

Have you done a disconnect from the “My Account “ screen and logged back in ? Do you have same issue playing to Mac built in speaker ?

Every time I restart AS it requests that I enter my login details. Actually quite frustrating, I don’t see a save user name and password function.

If you do the disconnect once that should stop the login issues unless you disconnect again to change computers

I’ll see if it persists. I’m loathed to do a complete uninstall/reinstall, as sounding best it has done in a v long time. I had gone back to 3.5 for a while, as imo AS had major issues early on. Sounding nice now though.

Does your hiface have the latest firmware? I can’t remember exactly the os I was using when one of mine went to crap and I couldn’t update it

Monterey? Is that latest ver on MacOS? My macmini is 2012 and headless, usually don’t fiddle too much, it just des it’s streaming thang.

Monterey 12.1 made a big difference for me with Studio. I’m thinking a 2012 cannot get there as my old Air won’t

Cheers. Yes, think too risky to try upgrading OS, I could cause no end of probs. My wee mac is coming up to 10 years old, bought on ebay sub £200. RCA coming out of it worth more hehe (we (I) have audiophile issues, lol)

Well the log mentions your Mac Mini is running on macOS 10.15.7. Which is Catalina. And that’s the last version of macOS which supports your Mac. So upgrading to a later macOS version won’t work.
